About 15 years ago, for some odd reason, this hideous color started to become common place just about everywhere in women's clothing, purses, accessories and even have gone so far as making gun parts in this disgusting color. I guess you could compare this color to electric blue but the thing is guy don't go around buying things in this color or buying an electric blue gun stock, pistol grip or upper receiver.

I'm seriously curious what the deal is with this color and the people that buy things in this color. It is not only offensively tacky but is offensive to most people's sight. I know many women who hate the color as well, but there are some that seem to want to own as much as possible and I think it is some kind of neurosis or is a way of compensating for some deep insecurity about something.

I'll be glad when this horrible fad fades and we can all look back at this sad period of women's choice in accessories like we do to most of the late 80's and early 90's, with embarrassment and shame.

Personally I despise any shade of pink. Just not my colour.
I know a woman though who only wears pink shirts/ jackets.
Can't understand it.
Then again...80% of my wardrobe is black.

The insecurity lies in the fact that Women are claiming rights to previously male dominatad domains ...

I think it's a hideous color in any shade that, as a focal point, doesn't work on very many people of either gender past childhood.
But to be honest, it does seem to look best on some guys, as opposed to almost no women. It's probably a subtle color clash between makeup, accessories & crap, whereas when men wear it, they're not plastered with face paint loaded with tacky costume jewelry/fashion belts, lugging saddlebag purses.

Pink, terrible ain't it. And to think 2 or 3 hundred years ago, Pink was a Mans Color and Blue was a Womans. Imagine that aye?

He says as he whips his hot pink feather boa over his shoulder.

You really need to give that back to DB at some point, ya know. I think he's going to notice it's missing eventually.

I like pink a lot. Just not pale or soft pinks. But hot pink, electric pink, or that deep metallic pink. Dude! I'd buy a gun in those colors, and I'm a guy! ... a straight guy.

I don't blame chicks for sporting those colors. It's rough on your eyes, but pleasant for mine.

God made orchids in that color. That color shows up in the best sunsets.
It shows up when vanilla ice cream melts into strawberry topping.
I love the color.
It's called fuchsia. Named from another vividly colored flower.

And another note on color from an interior designer...bubble gum and hot pink are not nearly the same color.

But on a lighter note ...You should surround yourself with colors you love so avoid this gorgeous sunset flower shade.

Maybe a nice robins egg blue?

PS saying any color is offensive is just odd. You don't like it fine. It's not offensive. No co!or is offensive. it just is...

P.P.S.
the color didn't just show up recently. It's always been.
Hey you may be glad to hear that deep royal blues are the next up and coming color in clothing and home decor.
Look for the shade everywhere next fall and winter and look for it in makeup this summer.

I'm wearing a baby pink and dusty rose colored shirt right now.
I do have a lot of pink, fuchsia and red in my wardrobe but it's a color that suits me.
What I don't have is a lot of green. I have light olive skin and green makes me look sick.
Unless it's turquoise. Greens with blue in it also look good.

I discovered early that my favorite color was rainbow...all of them.
It's why I got into the business I did.
My living rooms is a deep rich yellow the curtains are yellow, red and white toile fabric.
www.google.com...=Dot%20%26%20Bo&pie=plar-ti toile fabric examples.

The rugs are deep red Persian carpets with loads of bonus colors. And the furniture is dark burgundy leather with nailhead trim.
