methinks if you went to a place where they let customers of another race do something but didn't allow you, you'd probably do more than 'just leave the place'.

So based on one data point, this pretty much proves to you that Starbucks has a super secret segregated manual with a "white customers" and "black customers" section that all employees are trained on?

Here we go again. Why don't all white people just get sent to a reeducation camp? let's say, "Siberia". Just being sarcastic.

Not a business model that ever attracted me at all, and wouldn't have when I was younger, either. For them to e accused of racism is rather surreal, all considered.

Wouldn't appeal to me either; I guess I'm too practical. I don't mind having a seat somewhere and sipping on a Dew or a hot cup of just coffee, but that fancy stuff at a high price just seems like such a waste of resources. The kids seem to eat it up, though, and those kids spend plenty of cash. From that perspective, I can see where it's a workable business model.

But it's also a business model in a very dangerous political atmosphere. The same people who will now frequent a business to buy overpriced drinks they shouldn't be able to pronounce, will turn on the business over common sense policies. It's a strange dynamic: willing to financially support the business they are willing to politically destroy.

I did take time to visit parts of the Smithsonian, when I was in DC, many, many years ago.

Oh, so did I on the way back from Philly. The Museum of Natural History was absolutely everything I had hoped for and so much more. I spent a few days checking out DC, and that was certainly the highlight for me. I stood in front of the Capitol Building... not really exciting. It's a big purty building. I saw the memorials. Meh. The most fun I had that day was shooting a bird at the IRS building.

Good BBQ, now, that's good eating! Best I can recall was some hole in the wall place, alongside the road, somewhere in Alabama. Melt in your mouth amazing stuff.

You hit one place of many. BBQ is a high bar around here, because everyone loves it. Seems every restaurant tries to outdo everyone else on how tender they can cook a pig. A lot of places you don't even need sauce; the meat is so tender and flavorful all the sauce does is make it wetter.

At the time, I was a bit naive... you stick coleslaw in front of me, I (try to) eat it.

But I agree... the local cuisine is always better. It just seems like false advertising for a Yankee truck stop to claim "southern cooking" and then serve the mess they serve.

Because a black employee called the police and a black police officer arrested the two.

But racial-bias.

Has it been verified that the employee was black? Or if there were any other black folks in the shop at the time? I know the supervising police officer is black as you can see him the video.

So close for a couple of hours in a month and a half. By then it'll be 15 minutes at the beginning of the shift so come in early.

Seen this kind of corporate thing too many times.

I take that back.

Not sure if the employee was black. I thought I had read that. Can't find any confirmation of that.

For the second time, I’ll explain it again. I am a white, older, male who frequents this particular SB and it is an understood policy that I don’t use the restroom unless I purchase something. It has nothing to do with race, except for those who want to make everything about race to push an agenda. Similar to David Hogg who wants to boycott every business that supports guns or Laura Ingraham.

ETA: I just opened that image in a larger window with the intent of scanning that code to get myself a free iced tea... "Limited to persons of African American heritage and/or identity at time of exchange."

I think that might be a violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Sounds like something that would be a good thing to challenge if you wanted to see yourself on the news.

I nearly got threw out of a SBs. Went in with my son, who paid for the black stuff they call coffee. When I saw the bill I immediately said "do we take the mug home for that price"? To which I was informed that I could buy the mug as an extra. To which I replied in a loud voice " oh, for the price paid I thought I'd bought the mug as well as the coffee". They took a dim view of my comment.

That's another good reason for me to remain completely ignorant of what the inside of a Starbucks looks like.

I may appear on the news someday, but it won't be for me white knighting against corporations asskissing and pandering to the lowest common denominator.

Good choice. Showing up on the news is rarely good for anybody.

Haven't you heard? The US have found a way to integrate both industries.

Wonder how he is going to work through the collective cowardice of the Starbucks barista brigade?
