I tell ya...i see the same obsessives in other groups besides politics. I was admiring the obsessives that listen to local police scanners and discuss it on FB. Strange lot.

Being down the middle doesn't preclude me from being able to criticize the left.

But your assumption that any criticism of the left must mean I'm a right winger just shows your partisanship.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Freedom certainly isn’t Marxist.

Here’s an idea: start a company, pay your employees huge wages. Problem solved.

I think corporations are the root of the problem due to their ability to monopolize markets, privatize the profits and socialize the losses. How do we fix it? Make all corporations publicly-owned so that corporate profits go back to the people. The other huge problem is the legal system which is another maze set up to benefit the wealthy. It is also in terrible need of reform and simplification.

The video was hybrid of Marxist ideas. Obviously you did not watch the video.

RE: start a company

Like anyone can start a business these days to compete with the likes of Home Depot or Walmart. We have too many cartels and monopolies preventing competition with legislation and scale.

No I did not watch the video, and won’t bother doing so.

If it’s not easy starting a corporation and paying employees the wages you prefer, why do you demand others do it?

the thing is though, that even the original colonies had laws that required those that had much to chip in to assist the widows and orphans, those who couldn't take care of themselves.. as did england since victorian times.
the alternative is crime, blight, disease, and such, that in one way or the other will touch all. but that's not to say that our desire to lift others out of poverty can't be abused, by gov'ts, by religion, and by individuals.
when indian children were taken from the reservation and placed in special schools (for humanitarian reasons of course), the funds came from taxpayer's pockets and church donations.
heck it wouldn't surprise me to learn that the slave trade was somewhat justified as being humanitarian, taking the savages of africa and civilizing them, bringing to god and all that crap.
well, our current system has suffered from massive abuse, by the left, by the right, by the employers, by the healthcare providers, by the land lords, by anyone who profits by the production or selling of whatever our gov't decides is needed and should be subsidized for the "poor", probably more badly than the recipients have abused it!
it's capitalism, merged with socialism with a strong dose of facism added in.. and the socialism has just turned into the excuse to keep diverting the wealth from the people to who ever is benefitting at the top from the subsidizing of the poor... the corps producing and distributing the needed goods, the banks who are issuing the ebt cards and making student loans, the employers who no longer have to worry about weather their wages actually pay enough to keep their employers alive and well... not only is there really much of a chance of anyone escaping from the ranks of the poor, but the mass of poor just keeps growing as the greed at the top keeps wanting more and more for their goods and services and the gov't keeps expanding their programs to accommodate those who cannot pay that more and more.
remember when welfare was mainly to provide for the elderly, the widows, the disabled, the temporarily unemployed, and the few single moms in the world? compare that to now where you can have a family with two people working full time and still find them needing food stamps, or help with their kid's healthcare, or childcare needs!! federal programs to give the poor the bare necessities didn't produce this effect... abusing the system so they can get more and more of that gov't funding in hud reimbursements, medicaid/medicare, childcare, ect, along with of course, avoiding increasing the wages of so many because well, why should they, the gov't will take care of them just fine did this!!!

you tell the recipients to get educated, well fine, that's just gonna draw more money from your pockets into colleges and universities, into the paychecks of not their instructors, but rather their upper managements... and the best result will be that the person might find a job at the end that pays a living wage, but then it leaves an opening for someone else to fill that doesn't pay anything close to a living wage... which still needs to be filled more than likely because society wants the services or goods that were being provided!
you want to force them into jobs, okay, but then you money is being diverted into the childcare industry so the children they were taking care of will have care while they work in a low wage job that doesn't lead anywhere and they still need gov't benefits... not to mention that you are sending out a mass of people, who really don't care how much the earn, because well, the gov't will still be giving them help, and they will be competing for jobs with those who aren't getting any help but need that extra money to add to another income to reach that living wage.. or maybe the employer sees the chance to eliminate some people who were getting paid more and hire from this mass of people you just sent out for a lesser wage.

nope, our system isn't capitalism, it's not socialism, it would be better if it was one of the two, but it's neither. it's a mixture of the two, bent to serve a fascist agenda.

I find most people who are pro socialism or Marxism are too weak in character, fiber, and internal strength to pull themselves out of their situation

So they are looking for someone to do it for them

Are taxpayer funded subsidies, grants to profitable companies socialism. Or bailing out "too big to fail" banks....

Taking my money and giving it to entities that have more money than I will ever have. WTF!!!

You should cheer up!

Too many people have been successfully indoctrinated, too many don't care for the Constitution, too many don't care for individual rights or freedoms, too many have reached the threshold, the point of no return.

You'll get your wish of Marxism eventually. Of that I have no doubt.

I like Marx's criticism of laissez-faire capitalism. You have to be a complete moron not to see Marx is making several good points about the problems with laissez-faire capitalism:

...

Profit equals theft!!!

We rest our case, your honor: The pot is calling the kettle black.

Just for fun, though, let's look at an average definition of theft, shall we?:

Generally, a person commits the crime of theft of property if he or she:
1. Knowingly obtains or exerts unauthorized control over the property of another, with intent to deprive the owner of his or her property.

So, generally speaking, you are being asinine to claim that a system where people willingly provide money in exchange for goods and services "theft."

Goal posts are heavy--you shouldn't try to move them that far just to try and make an ideological point.

As for anything else that I would have pointed out, Infolurker did a fine job here, so no need for me to bother with any further points.

How did all that BS work out in the USSR again?

I miss the days when championing communism in the west was met by a visceral reaction similar to dropping an N bomb in public today. It was a more sensible, smarter time in our history.

I'll call you Carlin Marx when I don't forget to do so.

Funny read though. A few points well made and the idiocy chimed in fast to make this about silly misconceptions of heaven and hell. Or fascism and socialism for that matter...

Another great topic thoroughly derailed by MoroniKKKa. Thanks for the giggles!

Don't worry righties, all of our 'left' in the USA are merely center-right corporatists anyway. Obama most certainly included.
