Trump's budget plans would be disastrous in so many ways including science and more specifically medical research. Cutting meals on wheels is also on here. That is a charity that my unit volunteered for when I was in the Navy. Why would you cut a billion dollars of spending that actually helps people and give that money back to corporations and billionires who don't need it? I guess Republicans really do want to kill granny.

So maybe he's not an Immortalist (flavor of transhumanist), like Silicon Valley, the Ivy leaguers and so on power elite class BS they've been running up all the research on taxpayers tab so they can try to live forever (where everyone obviously wont be allowed to participate). MAYBE.....

With the long list of well funded failures, it's about time the failures get forced to "trim" their inefficient, fat and bloated operations.

Clearly Trump is not a man of science, nor does his support it. He, like other POTUS's before him, rather spend that money on War and MIC, and lining the pockets of his donors/administration.

No reason we have to stick to talking about just what the news says we should, when they say we should.

I do a very lot of reading of medical research, every day I read at least ten and as many as thirty articles. Sometimes I occasionally read a hundred articles in ten to twelve hours in a day trying to find things I am investigating.

A very lot of those articles are repitition, they are paying to have the same test done over and over. Almost identicle. Nobody is reading what has been researched, we need more people weeding through these things correctly.

They could easily cut the research money in half and still get quality research. It might force people to read research that is already out there.

Meals on wheels is a good program, but the people could buy a good quality TV dinner for the same overall cost. It does create some jobs though, that is good. I think Senior centers do a better job at providing quality foods for seniors at about the same price. I know maybe ten people who work in the program, I am not saying it is bad, just that it has gotten too commercial. There is nothing better than home cooked meals, the meal on wheel programs use a lot of commercial foods and not fresh homemade anymore. No good real gravy anymore on the potatoes, it is all canned or boxed mixed gravy which is just amino acid derived soy flavorings and salt.

What I find funny is the article you link just says all these cuts will be disastrous but gives no reasons why. So budget is being cut by a huge amount. What did these programs being cut do for lives of US citizens I would wonder?

I'd love to know what these cuts are actually cutting and what the return on investment was when the budgets were in place. How many lives were saved from the research from these programs? Just like with any business, if it isn't producing results then it should be cut.

Yeah, before I can criticize cuts like this I need to see what is being cut. If research is too profitable, they will never find a cure when it comes to disease.

I have to call BS.

Why is it the leftists contention that throwing money around will solve our problems?

Spending more in schools yet our children are dumber.
Spending more on the "war on drugs" and it's a failure.

So spending more money will cure disease? Prove it.

Polio vaccines were found on a fraction of the spending now.

For real! We have been tossing money at education for years and yet our kids are dumb as hell compared to other countries. We used to be at the top until cultural Marxism took over!

Producing activist/rioters seems to be all I see coming out of our so called system of higher learning?

And we sure as # have not cured much since polio.... plenty of treatments but very few cures.

Simple logic tells us that medical research and reducing the population AKA "Agenda 21" are incompatible.

The global elite believe that they need to get rid of 80 to 90 percent of us.

Obviously making us useless eaters well is the very LAST thing they care about.

"The medical industry is no longer to be trusted. We have a Medical Inquisition. The Rockefellers took it over way back and warped a lot of it. Our doctors are brainwashed. The Rockefellers are dedicated to population reduction and are using the medical industry to do it. There's no more dangerous activity than walking into a (witch) doctor's office... ~ Dr. Robert Mendelsohn

Confessions of a Medical Heretic - The Temples of Doom
CONFESSIONS OF A MEDICAL HERETIC

"The medical cartel, at the highest level, is not out to help people, it is out to harm them, to weaken them. To kill them. At one point in my career, I had a long conversation with a man who occupied a high government position in an African nation. He told me that he was well aware of this. He told me that WHO is a front for these depopulation interests." ~ Jon Rappoport interview.

The Medical Mafia

Early in the 20th Century, Rockefeller and Carnegie created a medical monopoly by financing 1640 medical schools with pharmacology, leading to the "ethical" drug pushing that has been in practice ever since, because these families owned or indirectly controlled most of the drug companies.

In the dark ages we had the "witches" (mostly females), who were burnt at the stake for practicing alternative treatment in form of herbs and old wisdom. Today the "witches" still exist, but now they call themselves homeopaths, naturopaths and practitioners of alternative medicine. Yet they are still as hunted as they were in the Dark Ages. Why?

Because in these areas the real cures can be found. If you think like Rockefeller you realize that these "witches" are some of his worst enemies, because they halt the genocide of the world population and decrease the income of the Drug Cartels, which are controlled by the Illuminati.

So basically you as a Socialist want me to pay for research without my consent? I don't care how many research dollars you throw down the black hole of 'research' they won't find a cure for anything because then the gravy train stops for them. So, the best way to fund research is the private sector.

You don't solve money problems by throwing money at the problem. You solve it through changes in procedures and focus.

How are you qualified to consent on research topics?

What about the WAR without my consent?
What about surveillance without my consent?
What about mass incarceration without my consent?
What about Christian Dogma in Schools without my consent?

You obviously don't understand how a representative republic works.

Nice straw-man arguments.

However, I don't support any of that crap either. So, basically we both get screwed by Government and you are blaming me? I don't consent to any of it and especially wasting tax dollars on the corrupt medical industry for 'research'.

how-much-top-journal-editors-get-paid-by-big-pharma-corr upt

A paper published last year in the British Medical Journal examined how much money editors of the world's most influential medical journals were taking from industry sources.

Of the journals that could be assessed, 50.6 percent of editors were receiving money from the pharmaceutical industry - in some cases, hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Here's just a small highlight showing editor payments received in 2014 - the amount on the left is direct payments, and the 'research' payments on the right are less regulated, usually made in the form of expensive research trips.

I wish we would throw some Billions towards some other important issues.

We need national evacuation bunkers and shelters for war and natural disasters. We can learn to build habitats for space while we are at it.

Medical research is too business oriented. If less wasteful first, more money should then be given based on definite goals.

Money for intellectual tangents and personal vindication should come from private hands.

Some zen:
Government should be efficient so it doesnt get sick with corrupt ambition.

Where there is no dirt, every blemish stands out. Where there is much mess, confusion leads the intelligent mind to mischief.

Where nothing is lost and all is accounted for, only the thief seems lost.

Where nothing can be found and all is in doubt when tallied, only the fact that thieves must abound is truly obvious.

Every dollar counts.
