Since the U.S. and its allies attacked Syria Friday in response to alleged chemical weapons attacks on its own people, there has been a significant surge in Russian trolls promoting fake news, the Pentagon announced Saturday.

“As Secretary Mattis said last night, the Russian disinformation campaign has already begun,” Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said in a press conference. “There has been a 2,000 percent increase in Russian trolls in the last 24 hours. Therefore, we will keep you all abreast of the facts moving forward.”

Scan the pages of ATS posts about the Syrian air strikes and you can smell the stink of them.... my guess is one out ten posts right now are trolls sowing there poison

But given that the U.N. Security Council is weak and has allowed the Russians to shut down international chemical weapons weapons monitoring, who will stand up and stop this? I do believe a very important point being communicated is that the world cannot stand to allow chemical weapons to again become "normal" . Citing the horrors of WW1 is very pertinent. These weapons are an international threat

I've noticed this for quite some time now, I recall
there was a huge troll presence during Crimea.

But this kind of puts some people between
an rock and a hard spot. They hate Trump,

Many here are against our governments actions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria but we don’t spread Russian propaganda designed to divide us

Russian disinformation regime...... Yes...Because Disinformation isn't ripe in the west... The west simply waits for a reason to attack where they want, or if impatient makes their own new story to validate their reason.

I admit when I am wrong, I honestly thought Russia would have had a response by now...I didn't expect it last night, but by now I imagined some kind of response from Russia. I still think Putin, held back from retaliation knowing there was no way back if they did, but how long he can hold back his actions from his words is what I worry about. As an ex KGB, Im sure he knows more, and is much more intelligent than the west gives him credit for.
