Why delete or mute content when you can just create so much other "noise" that no one can see/hear the truth? This is the questions I have for everything we consume from the 'trending' column on Facebook to what we're told is important news on television. When anything is censored, the United States public is sure to react because we recognize a clear violation of our first amendment rights. But, supposing the 'popular' voice overshadows the minority truth until it's buried in the pages of rabble? Is content being generated to dilute what's really happening? Is the voice of reason being muddled by a deluge of intentionally inflammatory comments?

An older article illustrates the concept of audio "down out" of actual sound:

CBS uses crowd noise to drown out slur during NFL game in Mexico City

What other examples exist?

It is always the responsibility of the individual to search to find the truth. No matter how much noise is around it.

Good conversation starter!

I guess it is easier to censor information rather than
counter it. Yet, there are hundreds of thousands
of twitter bots, and a recent PEW study found
that they are linking to mainstream news.

Imagine that!

Not Russian trolls, but bots paid for by
CNN, MSN, and other MSM outlets.

Well, we hope they are in the U.S. at least....

Content gets created for one reason only. Money.
the pursuit of money really is at the root of most messed up things that happen in this world today.

To create enough content to effectively drown out the truth in the information age would take 10s of thousands of writers and actors working 24/7.

Outsources censoring? Yeah, I get it. And, yeah, I see it.

The crowd, the unwashed masses, have become the most effective sensors.

Well that's like creating disinfo.. aka Truth surrounded by many lies. The government/CIA uses this to hide the truth about almost everything. The rabbit hole of censorship is so deep that this makes it almost impossible to gather information about anything that is against the MSM agenda.I lately started to mimicry on YT , just to establish a channel. for that i'm a 'happy transgender' ? capice?? crowdfunding ? Noise is everywhere.

Facebook is just a tool and has destroyed the core of our society. Zuck knows oh hell all developers know.

That is true but also misses the point enough to possibly be the kind of noise being addressed here.

I agree, but for example those who have ever tried to make a website findable by Google or even an original bracelet on Etsy knows how much of a challenge it is to be seen. Well practiced (dis)information specialists would have no problems rising to the top I'm sure. They would probably know things about SEO scores and funding that would bury any sort of competition.

This is like the the "Learning Against learning that was part of the Jesuit Counter Reformation. The idea was to promote
all kinds of knowledge and entertainment so that less attention would be spent on the Bible. It considered it easier to counter the conclusions of the Protestants that the Catholic church was the Whore of Revelation.

Some argue that they have largely succeeded as Seminaries study everything but the Bible.

This brings up a good point, there's been a massive move against churches in China recently. I wonder, what happens when you google Jesus Christ in the country?
