ATS is already discussing the raid that happened earlier today, to wit;

The FBI raided the office of Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's personal attorney, CBS News' Pat Milton confirms. They seized materials and documents from his office including content related to his payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels, also known as Stephanie Clifford, the New York Times reports.

A person familiar with the matter confirmed that law enforcement agents conducted searches Monday at his New York office and the New York residence of President Trump's long-time attorney, seizing documents and other material. A court warrant authorizing the raid was obtained. It is unclear what investigation the raid stems from.

Cohen's attorney, Stephen Ryan, released a statement confirming the search, saying, "Today the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York executed a series of search warrants and seized the privileged communications between my client, Michael Cohen, and his clients. I have been advised by federal prosecutors that the New York action is, in part, a referral by the Office of Special Counsel, Robert Mueller." According to a knowledgeable official, the information used in Monday's raid originated with the special counsel but is a separate inquiry, CBS News' Andres Triay reports.

So... Robert Mueller found that even he couldn't justify how far out of the scope of his investigation he needs to look to find something, ANYTHING to keep relevant. So he referred the raid to the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York because the payment to Stormy Daniels "didn't smell right".

A question to ATS... this all happened while Trump was a private citizen. So attorney-client privilege should not exist for Trump because... he's orange and he doesn't believe in the "right" kind of politics?

Where do we go from here? Due process doesn't seem to mean anything anymore. The rule of law doesn't apply to this Trump witch hunt? As far as I can tell right now, impeachment needs to happen because a billionaire playboy slept with a porn star 16 years ago? Or are we still hung up on ads placed on facebook changing the course of the election, even though the majority of the ads were placed after said election?

This president has been under attack by the entire media, the Democratic party and Progressive Republicans since he won the election. Ordinary citizens are getting more upset by the day at the glaring hypocrisy of the media. The divide in our country is getting wider and wider and there seems to be no end in sight.

Is there some point where his opposition can just let the guy attempt to do his job, accept the outcome of the election and try to get along with fellow citizens? Allow him to at least try? Or is that too much to even ask?

For the liberals on this forum... where does this end for you? Does the end justify the means for you? Does the rule of law only apply to the opposing team? In dividing America so badly in the pursuit of your particular ideals that is is actually harming the country, does that matter to you?

For the conservatives here... where do you go from here? Do those of us who are even somewhat conservative just keep getting more polarized, more mad, more ready for a push for another middle finger vote to the establishment in 2018? If so, does it even matter anymore when it seems that the country has been split so badly that there may no longer be a compromise?

I'd like to see some honest discussion on what an outcome would be that would actually benefit the citizens of America. Is that even possible anymore?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts...

You know maybe he has a completely separate investigation into this. Kinda like Manafort. We just don’t know, either way it happened and Mueller got a judge or two to sign off on it.

While I don’t like Trump which I have said many times, if Mueller committed a crime in doing this I certainly hope justice will be served.

You'll then know "where we're going". Also, President Trump just said that he's considering firing Rod Rosenstein.

That's the entire point. The more you buy into it the more you become a pawn in their game.

SoOo... what would this have to do with Russian collusion again? You know, his reason for the investigation?

Has Carter Page been indited yet? At what point does this actually stop?

Because this investigation has not only gone off the rails, it is splitting the country apart.

It's also a fourth amendment violation.

I don't like Trump either. It just seems at this point that the entire point of the investigation, the leaks to the press, the posturing isn't about an investigation on wrongdoing at all, it is about disrupting Trump's agenda.

In the process I honestly think this is hurting our country.

At first I thought you were talking about Mueller. LOL!

Rosenstien shouldn't be fired.

He should be impeached.

His job was to find evidence of collusion between Trump and the Russians to influence an election.

Mueller said last week that Trump wasn't under investigation for that anymore.

So now it's all about... what again?

Good point... it's divide and conquer. We all know that.

So where is the point where we, as citizens, can start to fix that? What avenue do we have? Do we even care anymore, or is it just more bread and circuses until someone is nice enough to push the flush handle and we let the place just swirl away?

Ah... poor Trump and his corrupt associates, poor babies.

I wouldn't grieve for these corrupt and greedy people

As for Mueller, Bill Clinton was investigated for WHitewater but they ended up getting him on sex and lying. That's how this works.

Well this may have nothing to do with Russia collusion. IDK how the FBI could get involved with this separate investigation but it is not out of the realm of possibility.

~sigh~

Post a single crumb of information from an investigation that leaks info that is even somehow vaguely detrimental to the sitting president that Trump colluded with Russia to steal the election.

I won't be waiting for a reply because you have nothing but a bunch of straws and a little hope that a president that you don't agree with can somehow be impeached for... what was it again? Stormy colluded with the Russians and facebook to influence an election? The dream y'all have changes so much I lose track.

So if it has nothing to do with Russian collusion (the actual scope of Mueller's investigation) are you OK with the unlimited resources of the government just fishing until they can put two half-truths and a possibility together to throw to the Dems for a possible basis for an impeachment?

You showed your colors pretty quickly on the thread.

Thank you for fleshing out the topic in the only way you know how.

Vapidly.

Edited to add... where do we go from here? You know, the reason I posted the topic?

I think that everyone involved should be arrested. No BS. Declare martial law, round them up and hold military trials.

Run the whole DOJ and FBI through an investigative process with military trials. Look at any other agency involved including the CIA.
