Ynet.co.il also Mako.co.il both reported initially the attack was by U.S. forces. The are now retracting and so is Syria according to them. I give up.

If it is Israel, which if they came through Lebanon as reported it almost certainly was, they won't say anything until they do their assessment and determine if another strike is needed.

So if another missile strike happens in a few hours and nobody claims responsibility would it be safe to assume that Israel is doing it?

Seeing reports storage / maintenance facilities were hit. Also seeing reports there was an Iranian presence on the base in that area as well.

Most likely, yes IMO. They generally don't talk until after they're sure the operation is over. And if this was a US operation it wouldn't have been fighter sized aircraft over Lebanon. Our primary base is in Qatar, and if it was aircraft launching missiles, it would have been B-52s.

Yes we do, but we don't escort missiles. There were reports of fighter type aircraft over Lebanon.

Maybe a possibility Israel gave Russia a heads up and the jets were Russian ensuring their assets werent targeted? Assuming it was Israel.

Maybe Israel taking precautions considering what Russia said about hitting Syria. Put some planes up on the off chance Russia might carry thru on their warning.

Israeli aircraft are almost always patrolling Lebanese airspace, means nothing.

They've worked pretty closely at deconfliction so I wouldn't be surprised.

If a plane entered Syria from Lebanon it is most likely Israeli. However, there are many conflicting reports and disinfo at the moment. I wouldnt give it much validity just yet.

And what's your analysis of that?

Syria is now saying it was Israel.

Although initially the agency said it was likely “an American aggression,” following a denial by the United States, news outlets close to dictator Bashar Assad’s regime reported that Israel was in fact behind the attack.

“According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Air Defense system was deployed from the Mezzeh Air Base after the jets entered Syria from Lebanon’s Beqa’a Valley,” Lebanese news site Al-Masdar News reported.

That is the route that Israeli jets generally take before bombing military targets in Syria, according to foreign reports.

Most likely it was Israel IMO. They have a history of Syria operations, and they weren't thrilled with Iran having access to this exact airfield that was attacked tonight.

Yes, and supposedly a large group of Russian aircraft was launched and headed towards the US ships in the Med too. All unconfirmed.

That looks like a intercepting missile, sorry, but I do not see a jet here.
