I like wood too. Treen. I also have a piece of stone wood. Petrified wood. Today it would apparently be illegal to move it from the country of origin (I'm guessing Swaziland where my Mothers' side once lived temporarily on a diplomatic posting) but I got it from my Gran. On one of my last visits to her in England I told her that the piece she had had always been a favourite of mine since childhood. It's 1 foot/30 centimetres in length, a diameter of 3 inches and weighs several pounds/kilos. If you drop it on your foot you would scream like Captain Caveman. She gave it to me immediately. I'm like "What, really?" and she wouldn't let me leave without it so back to The Netherlands I took it.

I wouldn't sell it for all the world. (I doubt it is worth anything, except to me)

I have a friend who infuses (that's not the right term, I'm not sure what the process is called) wood with different coloured resins and then puts them in a vacuum chamber (he built himself!). Bloody amazing it is. I also have an autistic son who has collected sticks since he could walk πŸ˜‚. Hey, if you get a chance and if you want I'd love to see your wood. I mean, the piece of wood that was a gift from your mum. Oh dear.

Right, I best get some shut eye, the lark doth beckon me to sleep, perchance to dream.

Wow, blast from the past. I used to play this on vinyl in my room as a kid and dance like a hippy.

I love it too, except for one line of the lyrics. The I’m not a sinner.. never sinned ..line just comes off stupid in my opinion. Otherwise it’s an uplifting song.

the story behind it is interesting...

"Spirit in the Sky" makes several references to Jesus, although Greenbaum is Jewish. In a 2006 interview with the New York Times, Greenbaum told a reporter he was inspired to write the song after watching Porter Wagoner singing a gospel song on TV. Greenbaum said: "I thought, 'Yeah, I could do that,' knowing nothing about gospel music, so I sat down and wrote my own gospel song. It came easy. I wrote the words in 15 minutes."

Oh, and YES - you can leave the cats behind!
PS - Strangely (AGAIN) a very significant date (for me) actually appears in the article that you linked! Weird!!

Am still catching up....

Hey Sheye!

We often used an animated gif taken from that Nancy Sinatra video in the early days of the shed!
I'll go see if I can find it...

(Not sure if it was that actual one... but it was similar!)
