After pointing out how illegal immigrants that get "caught" and "released" never show up for court, Trump put out an order to stop the so-called "catch & release" policy.

The story mentions how Trump is asking if military facilities can "hold" enough people !!

We already know some kind of new construction is happening at GITMO, supposedly for just this kind of problem !!

Get ready to meet "The Judge" 😎😁

Trump signs memo ending 'catch and release' immigration policy

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on Friday ordering the end of a policy, known as “catch and release,” in which illegal immigrants are released from detention while awaiting a court hearing on their status.

As part of the memo, Trump asked Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to produce a list of military facilities that could be used to detain illegal immigrants.

Maybe we could use all those Obama era Walmart closings after all. For a law that’s already on the books! Give some out of work lawyers, clerks, staff for filing, security, accountants, and many more to employ in every state, county, city, and town. We could even make cut backs in a few highly paid spots who are doing expensive work on how lesbian owls impact the environment.
And do it with a middle of the road view, and really see who we want and don’t want. Such as people who have been deported multiple times, ex cons milking our welfare while making bank selling dope. We want the good people!
I’m 100% in, unless they go about it wrong. I have no problem with “legal” immigrants, but the Obama/Dem vote buying at our country’s expense is long over due for a firm axe swing.

Maybe you could even have them go to law school at costco.

Idiocracy reference, just in case anyone didn't know.

On topic: from what I understand "Obama´s catch and release" (which is really three steps catch, classify and release only the ones that don't pose a threat, or something like that) was a step up from the SOP from before which was also "catch and release" but without the classification.

OK seems like in practice that classification part didn't work out too well. Certainly a no release policy would work but it is going to cost. That was probably the reason it wasn't done before Bush stopped it and also probably why Obama tried to find middle ground.

Are they going to increase immigration court sizes to go along with the increase in detention? Because its going to cost a # ton more money to house people then catch and release...

Let's release some of the individuals already imprisoned for minor violations and non- violent crimes. The US already has the largest incarcerated population in the world.

Let's focus on reforming and releasing those people, before we begin detaining and housing and increasing the size of our imprisoned population even more.

It's already unsustainable.

He was definitely pro-guns, loved to wave the american flag off his tricked out trike and sounded like he was all for MAGA.

We're also the largest consumer of prescription drugs, go figure. The laws protect the rich and lock up the poor. Corruption is the issue at high levels of governement where there is no law.

The wrong crooks are in jail.

He should catch the illegals and make them build the wall to repay the cost of feeding and housing them.

Call it what you want, but it would definitely give pause to someone thinking about crossing the border illegally.
