Help for creating a Short Story Contest entry!

Hey writers and non-writers alike!

In case anyone is unsure of the mechanics of getting a story entered into the contest, I thought I'd try to help out. Here goes!

Step 1) Write your story!
That's the first step! Already done? Way to go!

Step 2) Create a new thread in the Short Story forum!
First, get to the forum: if you're here, you know how to get here. But just in case, from the forums page, scroll to "information and collaboration" forums, and click "Short Stories":

Next, create a "new topic" using the button:

Now, fill out the screen for the first post in your story. Remember, stories can be multiple posts - this screen will create your story thread and post the 1st post in your story. Remember to tack on "[TRA2018]" to your title so that everyone knows your thread is a contest thread.

If you have more story than can fit into the 1st post, just reply to your own thread with the additional content like you would reply to any other thread. Be sure to put "The End" at the end of the last post so readers & voters know your story is complete!

Step 3) Officially enter your story in the contest thread!
Get the link/address/url to the story thread you just created by navigating to it and copying the address from the address bar in your browser.

Now, navigate to Gordi's contest thread, which is pinned at the top of the Short Story forum

Then, add a reply to Gordi's thread. There are a couple critical parts to your reply in the contest thread: you have to include a link to the thread for your story, and you have to include whether or not you have already achieved "Writer" status.


Once you reply, you're entered into the contest! Congratulations!

Now, go find the other entries to the contest, read, enjoy, star & flag your favorites!
