"Trump now says the Military will guard "The Border" !!"

Wonder how much that will cost?

My guess would be rather a lot not to mention America's common sense.

The National Guard is a Branch of the US Military . Most were active duty at one time.
They get paid by the State , regardless of what they do.
ANd what is there not US common sense about being a sovereign country and protecting it's borders .
You do know there is a good bit of EU countries with their military guarding their borders against refugees now , yes ?

A few security guards can keep in an arena of thousands in check, but Border Patrol, the National Guard, and local police can't stop 1500 civilians? If that's the case then we have a much bigger problem than illegal immigration.

I can't wait to see if this is real or not. As soon as Mattis draws up plans. We are a go for containment if this comes true. Marine expeditionary forces and Soldiers + Hardware + FOBs.

DIS GON B GOOD!

Jesus Christ
You are off your # if you actually want this.

How is this good? The second a civilian gets shot it's going to alienate us from most of the world. We'll join Russia in having our economy trashed by sanctions.

Don't worry signs will be posted in Espanola that if they cross the border they risk the chance of danger.

The United States is a nation of laws and BORDERS. This has become a national security issue. Which supersedes all other state and government laws on border protections.

Our military isn't stupid. You try something stupid, we will shoot at you. Duh.

Here's the kicker — it's completely legal for asylum seekers to arrive at our border, turn themselves into customs/border patrol and request asylum.

It's literally the proper legal process.

Is the military going to intervene to "secure" us against proper legal process? Nope.
Sure it's legal...As long as they stay on their side of the border while they do it...Or border patrol has no obligation to let them cross our border...

What does he mean by military? The National Guard? Or is he actually talking about deploying the military on US soil?

Sounds like the military - great move if so.
I'd make sure it was fully supported 10,000 troops covering the border with a team of 10 or so every couple of miles, with air support, military vehicles and drones.

Game over for Democrats looking for more votes.

So there's nothing in there about an "invading force" or foreign nationals? I rest my case. The Insurrection Act and its predecessors limit those exact powers of the President. If you have a problem with that you may want to take it up with Thomas Jefferson.

I have quoted the insurrection act earlier in this thread.
POTUS has the duty to send the military to the border to protect our country.

But as far as I can see it's business as usual in the affected states.

If it's okay for the President to deploy the military this instance then it seems like any moderately sized protest would also warrant a military response.

Are those protesters foreign nationals trying to invade the usa?

It can be declared as such . They made a slight mistake when they stated they had "demands" . That most definitely did not help their case.

I agree.
Hopefully mexico takes care of this group.

Or Or....Maybe I want a country that has tough borders that you can't waltz in and do as you please and you have to earn a path to citizenship like everyone else??

Too late to talk about it now. That has failed. Now it's time to put the action in.

Id rather we didn't, military ROE is wildly different than Civilian and when someone gets hurt the military member will be thrown to the wolves and the politicians that enabled the conflict will be left untouched.

How about, you're just plain WRONG and unhinged.

Do you need a safe space? Scary as this is a valid question...

Excellent Idea Mr. President and Mr. Mattis!

Mattis has nothing to do with it. This all on the orange oompa loompa.

Mattis was taught about "Posse Comitatus" whilst attending National War College.

"Posse Comitatus" has nothing to do with sending troops to defend the international border.
