You are good with 1250-1500 illegal immigrants crossing the border?

i believe in asylum, yes.

Please describe what you mean by "asylum", and explain who should or should not be granted it?

a home in our country; people in danger

also, 1500 people is next to nothing. there's more than 40x that number of bosnian refugees in st. louis alone.

ETA: from my linked article

Most will try to stay in Mexico, Arzate said, with about 200 to 300 individuals ultimately crossing the U.S. border to seek asylum--a forecast that we found to be far short of published forecasts. "We’re trying to do it in a sensible way," Arzate said.

Is it possible... I don't know... that they could apply for "asylum" legally?

Or is that too much to ask?

You do know what asylum actually is, don't you?

These people fit the refugee definition? Where are their petitions?

LMAO..,. you are so funny.

Edited to add... they need to have refugee status. Find one here please and tell me all about it.

USCIS Refugee Definition

I am assuming you think they are all athletes, artists and people from an exchange program?

Okay, now you see why I took your vague open ended 'definition' and put it into perspective.

GREETINGS FROM AMERICA! Is it a snip hole in your country? Are there gangs and crime where you live? Is it dangerous to live there? Well declare yourself a "refugee" and come on home to the USA (where there's poverty and gangs and guns and crime and danger here too)! We're anxious to honor your demands today!!!!

not really, but i can see you're going to bang on about your own unique viewpoint whether i agree to play along or not... so have at.

p.s. asylum is NOT only granted when there's a war on.

how do you know they don't? they're getting legal advice. they're intending to apply for asylum. i would assume they're attempting to follow all our procedures.

Yet your example was Bosnian's.

How about this:

Mexico has been a literal warzone for some 20 years. And its US drug policy prompting it.

Its DANGEROUS there.

Mexico's population is 127.5 million.

Where are we going to put them all?

Sp hows that for my "own unique viewpoint"??

Then you would be, as almost always, wrong.

Or they would have already applied outside the United States.

~sigh~. Have fun with your mental gymnastics on this one. And for the record, it would be nice if you could house about 20 of them too, so you would have more skin in the game than ~feelz~

there's no need to be rude. i may not understand the finer points of the law, but i believe humanitarianism overrides that type of concern. it does for me anyway.

it's not like they're going to be in your house either, dearheart. no need to be so dramatic.

There are criteria for gaining asylum in the U.S. And not not just cuz your country is a # hole.
www.uscis.gov...

Every year people come to the United States seeking protection because they have suffered persecution or fear that they will suffer persecution due to:

Race
Religion
Nationality
Membership in a particular social group
Political opinion

So they just need to enter another country where they'll be "persecuted" for their Nationality. And then they have legitimate grounds to reach the promised land?

They need to come first then file for asylum. Surely you're not forbidding people entry to our country? People come in from all over the world every day. Airports, trains, boats...we call them tourists or visitors. Trump hasn't forbid travel into our country as guests has he?
