While it has been discussed since the Economic Freedom Fighter party (EFF) began in 2014 and recently promised publicly by the outgoing SA President, the idea of land confiscation from Whites without compensation had been only talk. That has changed in last weeks as the process has begun: encouraged by the promises of Malema and current President Cyril Ramaphosa, groups of poor have tried to stake squatter rights starting near Centurion, just North of Johannesburg. Despite police managing to clear out the squatters and remove their newly-laid out boundaries it seems the idea is catching on around South Africa with a fresh spate of land grab protests happening near Cape Town in Hermanus, Du Noon and Buffalo city.

Those familiar with South Africa's history of political protests can easily forsee how this is going to play out. Protests will increase in number and spread around the country until security forces are exhausted and spread too thinly to prevent it. Squatters will be erecting camps, claiming land while fighting among themselves who-gets-what and violence will increase as police try to remove them. This is how protest movements in South Africa always go. It is not going to quietly stop happening and then it is just a matter of time before they begin claiming land that others are already living and working on. The country is headed for chaos and possible revolution.

Does this sound hopeful in any way?

Political analyst Dumisani Hlophe warned that illegal occupation of land would continue as people who needed land for survival felt that politicians had failed to deliver on the promise‚ which was at the heart of the fight against apartheid.

“The masses will continue to their usual mode of attaining their own liberation. They will continue to go into this land which is empty and unused. They will not necessary follow procedure and all of that … because for them it is an urgent matter. It is a matter of life and death. For them it is a survival mode‚” Hlophe said

This shows the scope of the issue and gives proof that people are being encouraged to do this by their local EFF leaders. Looks like they were staking claims in a horse farm in Centurion.

Only once south Africa can rid itself of the white vermin that has taken their sacred lands from them, will they truely prosper and become a true world power.

I don't know, but isn't that persecuting a minority in that nation? Their government is Whack! I wonder if any country will start a war with them for how they are treating their people? That is what they did with Saddam Hussein.

Strangley, only a week or so ago, an Australian Parliamentary Minister stated that Australia should look at improving and quickening the process of South Africa's farmers, that may want to relocate to Australia....immigrate through official channels etc.
He was Very careful not to use that racist "White" word....

Of course within a day, the black members of South Africa's Government accused him of being a racist etc, that all Australians are racist (even the native black ones) etc, that the World yada yada....and that South Africans love their farmers and want them to stay there etc etc...

Anyway, South Africa is South Africa.

Sadly a few in the Aussie cricket team have disrespected their country by cheating!!......in South Africa.
Maybe these protests are about the cricket?

Here's a pretty good debate by South Africans. Some good information here on past "redistribution" - claimed to be by some for the benefit of the state and not common people. Some 7,000 farms under state management have had a 90 % failure rate. No ANC member would agree to participate. Fun semantics going on here but I cannot laugh due to the deadly seriousness of the situation despite some of the claims made about Zimbabwe as an example.

So a ton of black SA folks are going to go and take farms..divide it up, set their roots down, and then starve because they destroyed all the farmland to have a bit of squatting land

Guess we should get those care packages ready. USA always flips the bill for other nations stupidity

This will be a disaster of continental proportions, something no nation has the power to alleviate. People will be swarming in from Zimbabwe and Angola in search of the free land they keep hearing about. Investors will be pulling their money out from everything but mining and the South African economy will collapse. I hate watching disasters unfold in slow motion, it's painful to see what could have been avoided. The politics of hate, resentment and liberation will bear their bitter fruit.

Sounds like the only way to avoid complete collapse is for the vastly outnumbered farmers to somehow defend their land. Which won't happen without immediate foreign intervention. Which won't happen. It's truly horrible watching these events unfold, knowing there's nothing you can really do..

I have been following South Africa very closely the past month. I have written a draft to send to a few congress members tomorrow. I have to wait till the morning to send it just to make sure it gets done properly. Something needs to be done before it gets worse.

In the interests of trying to provide context this is an excellent debate about Mandela's Legacy featuring a number of Black speakers. Transitioning from Apartheid was a difficult task, one not complete yet many could argue. The beneficiaries of the old regime become the beneficiaries of the new and so it goes. Haven't listened to all of this yet but enough to feel it's worth posting here and finishing once I get some sleep.

This situation is absurd, and who are these "native" south Africans that are spoken about?, both the current white and black population are made up of generations old migrants and to think that the black population have done no wrong with waring tribal issues is laughable..

Zimbabwe 2.0 only with an effect that will collapse a already unstable continent, SA is the only economical anchor of the African continent although it is fast becoming a failed state when it does finally collapse the knock on will be devastating, no doubt the "blame whitey" narrative is already being readied for broadcast...

This current land grab will put copious amounts of regular black farm workers out of stable jobs, it will be a genocide of barbaric proportion and the west will do # all as it is weak and the current larger agenda of native/white population dilution is well underway in many countries.

As per #ing normal it will be the children that suffer, women will raped as is already happening and the men will be butchered.

It is times like this that political correctness stops rational conversation, this very well could turn into another Rwanda type genocide as once the pillaging starts that will be it and do not hold your breath for any exposure from the human garage that is current celebrity, I actually half expect them to support what will happen....

#ing Humans.......

It's the beginning of the end and starvation for South Africa. Once they remove the whites and destroy all the game, the famine will kill them.

And the taxpayers foot the bill for our "leaders'" stupidity...

On topic: are we witnessing the onset of a decade-long struggle in SA (or longer)? This doesn't seem like something that will resolve itself ANYTIME soon...

Man, and it was such a nice country - I am not saying that "whites kept it in shape", because that would be oversimplification, rascist and generally stupid. Many people from all parts of society maintained the country and helped it to flourish! Apartheid was ripe to fail and needed to do so!

But I can foresee squatters fighting over tiny bits of former farmland without tools, experience as a farmer, money to buy seeds and so on. Destroying what was once farmland into desert. No planning of government-controlled farming and gradually selling into the hands of culturally-accepted farmers, as I would have imagined doing an expropriation. It will end in chaos, as it will be done like in Zimbabwe, with local politicians, police-forces and militia who are confident to have the laws on their side.

What a pity!

Personally cannot wait, there is nothing good in that place, once they kill each other and starve to death perhaps we can repopulate the wildlife from our Zoo's and let them roam the land again whilst re-establishing farms and forests making Africa like a lung for the world, free of its tribalistic stabby rapey inhabitants.

Wait, the USA will follow. Reparations, give Chicago back to the natives, it’s already doing well with police presence. Time to pull out and start the land grab!!

Yeah yeah racist, ouch!!
