U.S Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told a Senate hearing that the U.S.A had "an increasing list of problems" with Syria. This is the latest salvo in a tit for tat escalation in diplomatic tension which with the assasination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

The US says it has "an increasing list of problems" with Syria, hours after Damascus formed a "front" with Iran.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told a Senate hearing that she had withdrawn the US ambassador to Syria to send a strong signal of displeasure.

Ambassador Margaret Scobey was first pulled out of Damascus for talks, but there is now no date for her return.

Washington insists Syria's problems are not just with the US, but with the whole international community.

Tension has increased since former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, who had called for the withdrawal of Syrian troops from the country, was killed in a bomb attack in Beirut on Monday.

What next ?

The diplomatic back and forth only seems to increase the tension.

Mmmmmm.... I don't see the International community really saying much one way or the other over Syria. It looks like it's only the USA and Israel that seem to have a real problem with the Syrians

Yep, another example of US always coming to the aid of Israel. Sooner or later, Israel will be the death of the US

Naaaah - Muslims will see to that first.

I guess your one of those people who believe that Muslims were not behind 9/11 but Israel.

Besides that Syria played a large part in insurgent activities in Iraq - So the US have a bone to pick with them. Let's hope Assad and his Baath leadership chokes on that bone.

People were saying that about US intervention in Europe during WW2, but as history has demonstrated it was well worth it to protect allies from hostile regimes and to promote free societies.
If such oppressive regimes obtain nuclear weapons and use them, it would disrupt world order and rearrange lives millions of people into terror and chaos. Dealing with them harshly while they pose little threat seems like a better option to me.

Well, Syria and the Arab world wants us to think that but reality actually proves otherwise.

www.freerepublic.com...

Actually:
Syria = Terrorism

Syrians trained terrorists to attack American interests and then turned them into the US.

One thing I can't stand is bad history used in defence of a faulty argument.

The U.S.A did not intervene in Europe. It was attacked by Japan and Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S.A thus dragging the U.S.A into WW2

Personally, I don't think it's relevant to this argument one iota but as certain elements insist on raising it as some form of emotional blackmail then it behoves me to set the record straight.

The U.S.A did not declare war on any nation in WW2 to my knowledge except perhaps Finland.

French are great diplomats, now and again. But im not sure if the Americans are planning military action with Syria 'cause the French will only go if the UN backs it.

With partners like france who needs enemies?
As far as I am concerned the current "diplomatic outreach" to france is like trying to teach a pig to sing, it wastes our tme and pisses off the pig.
We have plenty of allies in europe, real allies who stand with us not against us.
I say to hell with france germany and spain.
Let em keep living thier world peace socialist utopia fantasy untill they wake up and realise that everyone in the country is unemployed, the enemy is in thier hose, and they have beaten all thier weapons into plowshares thus leavng them with no way to defend themselves. After all they are doing it to themselves.

This is funny

Q. How many French Soldiers does it take to defend Paris ?

A.Don't know it has never been tried.

But back on topic, is America starting to over strech it self a bit.

Iran, Noth Korea and Syria ? Can they back up these words by action if push comes to shove ?

French are only worried about Syria and only willing to put pressure on the them. Iran is being dealt via the EU, so the French are working in Europe not on its own. So its just You, Israel and the French going after Syria

I say "intervention" because that's usually how US landings are recalled, but regardless US interests are attacked constantly by these states as they train insurgents (Syria) pouring into Iraq and announcing glorious proclamations about annihilation of unholy Israel every other week (Iran).

World should not put up with these theocracies threatening free states like Israel and newly liberated Iraq, now maybe its too late since world is so quickly turning into bunch of French...
