No, you were the one trying to prove a point to me, when I was having a conversation with augustus. You tried to make it seem like I'm an idiot regarding election processes, so I called you out.

you are the one that assumed I had no clue, and that it was so easy anyone can do it.

So do it. Go get elected, to anything.

I don't like that system, and pardon me for speaking against it.

No, you want unelected persons running our government. That isn't a representative democracy.

We (the USA) aren't a representative democracy though.

A vain effort, I know. You can lead a horse to water, etc....

when I was having a conversation with augustus.

Once you started engaging with me, which you did what...two pages ago? Three? Anyway, once you start engaging with somebody then you're having a conversation with that person. If you don't want to have a conversation with me, don't reply.

You tried to make it seem like I'm an idiot regarding election processes,

I assure you I had nothing to do with how you seem.

you are the one that assumed I had no clue

A presumption based off your apparent lack of knowledge that an election is part of a vetting process for an elected official.

So do it. Go get elected, to anything.

Repeating absurdity doesn't make it any more or less absurd than it was the first time you said it.

Pardon us for speaking against the system you push, which is that those in the system get to determine not only who stays in the system, but who gets the power within the system.

I've repeatedly said a system with oversight.

I just don't know how to make that successful.

Giving people power tends to corrupt them, giving them power they are unfit for by the process of people picking corrupts them even more.

Sure, if you say so.

Enjoy voting for Trump or Oprah in 2020.

Hell, we may even see a Clooney/DiCaprio ticket.

Why not? We just vote right?

I'm guessing you live in a small town.

50,000+ people.

...and he's likely too busy with business as well.

No, they got one of their preferred choices who happens to be a neighbor. Not everyone travels weekly like I do.

How about we quote the whole thing. You know, for context.
Bold is mine btw, because that last sentence adds a lot to the story that was conveniently left out.

“How far do we go?” Fisher asked rhetorically. “Any weapon that’s designed for use by the military, I think we should ban.” He told the gun control group that they shouldn’t be intimidated by right-wing “scare tactics.”
“You’ve heard people say, ‘You’ll have to pry my guns from my cold, dead hands,’” Fisher said. The Democrat then shrugged his shoulders and commented, “Ok!”
The crowd cheered at his suggestion.
“Whenever you pass away, we’ll come get it!” he told the crowd. “Joking just a little bit there,” Fisher added.

Any weapon that’s designed for use by the military, I think we should ban

Therein lies the idiot's ignorance . Most civilians cannot even purchase a weapon designed for the military

“Whenever you pass away, we’ll come get it!” he told the crowd. “Joking just a little bit there,” Fisher added

Yeah ,added after he realized he had opened mouth and stuck foot in it (both feet actually)
What a box o' rocks....

Reminds me of a part of the game of Mass Effect

Bureaucrat at the desk -" Commander , you will have to leave your weapons here"
Commander Sheppard - "I will leave one bullet. Now , where do you want it ?"
Peace at all costs.

My pops belonged to a Committee of 100, which is where my early exposure to local politics came from.

I've been fairly active for awhile now, hosting events, attending meetings, working the polls, etc.

The apathy is what kills the process and it's glaringly apparent in this thread.

50,000+ is very small unless you are a suburb of a larger city.

Considering the average local jurisdiction population in the United States is slightly over 6,000 according to the most recent census I think you may want to rethink that statement.

If only there were a method where the people could exercise some form of control and oversight on those in power....

How else can we get our depopulation agenda implemented? The more sheeple-snacks we eat ahead of time the easier it is to fool the rest.

Well, no. "We" don't, because you don't vote in elections.

Part of being an uninformed voter is being uninformed on facts.

I vote in elections that are relevant to me.

I didn't vote for any candidates in 2016, but I did vote no on prop 1 and yes on prop 2 in Nevada that year.

Both passed. I don't know how anyone voted for the damn gun control law, all it did was make people criminals.

The average township isn't 6,000 people. That's the average people per jurisdiction.

But I'm uninformed....
