There are some people who would disagree with you. Some people talk without duress...some need a push. Do you have first hand knowledge that 'torture' does not get results?

I'd be willing to bet it does get results, depending on who pays for them lying during the interrogation. But, I'm sure there are some that will die brutally for their ideology(s).

Interrogation does not always mean torture.

The U.S. Army position through the 1990'a was that everyone will break eventually under torture. No big deal, as most military battlefield information is useless or expired in a short period of time - 24 hours at the outset. Once they get you to interrogation you knowledge is pretty much useless.

What torture is good for us getting people to admit things in film or tv, and in signed statements for propaganda purposes.

Do some research and you will find that most interrogation techniques used by intelligence groups don't involve physical coearcion.

However, as I note above, some folks really have a desire to be cruel, and for whatever reason advocate torture. Says more about thoes individuals than anything else.

Torture is generally recognised by most intelligence agencies as a low-productive method of gaining information. There are hundreds of sources available. It is interesting to note the history of how the U.S. got back into torture in the early 2000's, the hacks who made a lot of money off it, and how we have abandoned those methods of favor of more effective techniques.

Enjoy your research!

Thanks.

Exactly, many people will lie in order to stop the pain, they'll admit to things they never did. I know I probably would if I were in such a situation where lying would stop the torture.

Spot on.

Last time I will say this: torture is to get people to say things The Torturer wants them to say.

Intelligence is gained by other methods.

Source is my training with th U.S. Army Survivial evasion resistance and escape course.

We all got a brief introduction to fear, hardship and yes, a touch of water boarding, just to give you a taste for it.

I would have said anything.

Guess I don't get to star in the next Rambo movie.

All good now.

Well good for him - She is a nasty piece of work.

Can't blame him.

I'd do the same thing.

Bolton is a neocon and is an example of the wrong turn American politics has taken since 9/11.

Then there's Mrs. Torture.

I thought Trump was against Neo Cons. Here he is replacing good people with some of the worst the right has to offer.

And before leaving for another (yes...ANOTHER!) two week vacation, Congress sabotaged President Trump's ability to make "recess appointments".

WTF?! This is Dirty: twitter.com...

Yep. This is the first move by Trump that has really made me shake my head. I hope Rand Paul is successful in raising awareness and stopping this ridiculous appointment.

Shame on you Trump.

When has Rand Paul ever been successful at stopping anything?
I like the guy, but seriously, he's utterly useless.

If your Mom, Dad, Sister, Son were in one of the Twin Towers, and died during the 9-11 attack, wouldn't you approve of any means necessary to find out who ordered the attack that killed your loved ones?

That program is what Gina Haspel was in charge of. Maybe Rand Paul doesn't love his relatives enough to find their killer(s) by any means possible, but I do. And I'd hope that most people reading these words do too.

Honest question Project.... in seeing this all play out. Is it your thought that Trump got turned by the establishment or do you think he was always pro-establishment and neocon and he's just exposed himself further?

I believe the latter.

So the ol bamboo under the fingernails doesn't work?

Not even a truck battery to the genitals?

Do you even need a board for waterboarding?

I don't get the problem with her.

Hasn't she been working for Bush and Obama?

Oh wait! Trump.

I dont see what the problem is

You want to kidnap 100 Nigerian girls and turn them into sex slaves we might have to torture you to find out where these girls are at so we can get them out of there

I don't believe either is the case.

What I do believe is that his inexperience with government is hurting his decision-making process. He doesn't actually know most of these people, and quite frankly, I don't think he paid that much attention to the nuance of political chicanery that came about after 9/11

I understand the hypocrisy of the left when it comes to these appointments.

But understand that Obama was elected to help undo what was perceived(rightly in many cases)as the abuses of power and poor decision-making by the Bush Administration.

Not only did Obama fail, but he continued those policies, ramping some up, and expanding the GWOT without political will or military commitment to find an end state that was satisfactory for the nation.

Donald Trump, it seems, might continue these policies.
