Poem - The Penultimate speech of the 'Red Indian' to the white man

A long time must go by
Before our present becomes history
Just like us
We will face the long march
But first
We will defend the trees we wear
We will defend the bell of the night and the hanging moon over our huts We will defend the leaping deer
And the clay of our pots
And the eagle feathers in the wings of our final songs
But soon you will erect your world on our remains
You will pave over the sacred places
To open a road to the satellite moon
This is the age of industry
The age of coal
Fossils to fuel your thirst for fine wine
There are the dead and the settlements
The dead and the bulldozers
The dead and the hospitals
There are radar screens to capture the dead
Who die more than once in this life
To capture the dead who walk after death
The dead who breed the beast of civilisation
The dead who die to carry the earth
After the relics are gone
Where, oh white master, are you taking my people... and yours?

Found this in a clickbait RollingStone article and thought I should share.
I love me a good poem and you should, too!

Cheers!

hmmm...Just trying to catch up on the politics of Waters - it appears that Waters was defended by the ADL and now he's become an Anti-Semite.
Glad I didnt spend $300 on a ticket when he was recently in Australia

In 2013, the Anti-Defamation League, having previously defended Waters against charges of anti-Semitism, acknowledged that “anti-Semitic conspiracy theories” have “seeped into the totality” of the performer’s views.

Yeah. The usual Bollocks once someone dares to criticize Net-a-Yahoos fascist agenda. Allright, go full blown adhom you morons! At least this way we can see that you don't have any reasonable argument to come up with.

I personally think Waters is a bit of a tool, love his music but totally uninterested in him as a person or his politics. However, in his defense, you are parroting the opinion of an organization that recently labelled the word 'Globalist' as anti-Semitic too. The ADL are plain crazy.

Agreed. On a more philosophical level, one could state that every artist is some muses tool.

I listened to the poem and wondered why it was in the Mud-Pit.
It seemed non-controversial to me.
Then I read the responses.
Oh! I see!

Ha! You've got it.

They came to demolish tolerance for a museum of tolerance. Oxy-morons in action.

Here's ADL's best examples of his alleged anti-Semitism - Roger Waters In His Own Words. I know anti-Semitism when I see it and none of that looks like it to me.

He's taken a political stance against Israel's policies towards Gaza Strip and Palestine. Unfortunately that's currently conflated as being anti-Trump as well as anti-Semitic so he's screwed in stereo there.

Thanks for the addition! It's a pity, way to promote ignorance and deny a good poem it's power. I think the danger of real anti-semitism lies more in the careless accusations like that, than in the compassion Waters holds for his fellow humans.

They're "watering" down the issues and literally playing with antisemitic fire there.
