May or may not have been rabid and there's only one way to find out which means the racoon is no longer alive. Not surprised really, lotta smaller towns don't have animal control/ leave it up to authorities and some who aren't trained for specific animal cases. Hopefully they didn't destroy the brain tissue specimens in that process, maybe thy were worried a .22 wouldn't work quite as well as a car, but nonetheless, HBC isn't exactly humane.

They don't get the easy out on this though. Ravena/Coeymans is less than half an hour from my house. They not only have Animal Control, but we have EnCon officers staffed all through the area who could have dealt with this much more efficiently as it is in their purview to deal with issues like this while animal control is reserved for domestic house pets on the loose. It's a bunch of moronic hick cops who got off on playing tag with a live animal from the drivers seat of their car.
