Yeah.
I went there.

Why is it that the candidate who generally has the most money wins an election?

Because Americans are stupid.

Why does it take months to campaign when electronic media can get the message around the world in seconds?

Because Americans are stupid.

A candidate can spend three dollars on a blog, write up his platform and message. A candidate can break down every issue the he/she stands on and post it. Print it out and put it on a bulliten board.

Then done.

Message delivered.

If you agree with the message, then vote for him/her.

If you don't?

Then don't vote for him/her.

But we live in Stupidistan. Stupidville. Stupidtown. Stupidberg. Stupidshire.

Where it takes months, even years for a candidate to run.

And collect money.

So we can hear the same message over and over again.

Because we are obviously very stupid.

All parties, all politicians, all people.

Just as dumb as a sack of turnips.

Why do we allow this?

Because we're stupid.

Why do we encourage this?

Because we're stupid.

Stupid stupidity is stupidly stupid.

Teikiatsu and I agree.

The world needs a t-shirt that says:

I'm only cynical because the world is stupid.

Partly because the Americans insist on primaries, which the candidate has to pay for. Letting the parties choose their own candidates is much cheaper all round.
If the party goes on to pay for the election proper, the wealth of the individual candidate can be taken out of the equation altogether.

Ugh! Then we would have had the Bush v. Clinton snoozefest. That's like saying no matter who wins, we might as well not bother. Either way, things will get run the same.

P.S. There is a clip that goes with this OP;
"The stupidest stupids in the history of stupidness"; (at the end)

Pretty rude comparing those turnips to Americans.

I agree with everything else in the OP.

True.

But I'm American.

If I started in on British elections people would call me names, then I'd get sad and have to eat ice cream.

Yes it's time to change the corrupt system and take the bulk of money out of the equation. Give 'em all equal time on national television and have real debates.

We need to demand campaign reform LOUDER than any other issue at this point. Then we can address the biggest problem our world faces: The behind the scenes psychopaths that have developed a foreign policy that never changes no matter who is in office and RAPES the world under the guise of "National Security."

With chocolate, strawberries, and carmel on it I hope. Hey, I think I have been called stupid, I have an excuse for hitting the ice cream now. I made myself hungry. It is all your fault that I am going to eat it. Now you should feel bad and have an excuse to eat it too since I said it was your fault.

You are 100% correct on that point.

But then again, Americans do tend to do everything bigger and better than the rest of the world...

Because he has spent the least of all the money he collected.

Why does it take months to campaign when electronic media can get the message around the world in seconds?

Because there is a need to have at least one person get his features re-arranged, a dog shot, and a lampost wounded.
