Bull****! Obama sold us out to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Why people don't understand where our opioid epidemic is coming from is beyond me. Yet daily I hear some uninformed fool still riding the Obama bus.

Ok. What does that have to do with what was said? I never seen an Obama supporter call him "messiah" or beloved". Even if some have, that just means that Trump supporters are just as brainwashed as some Obama supporters.

The difference between an Obama supporter and a Trump supporter is one intends to work to make America better the other intends to take to make their life better.

Talk about a line of bull#. Do you actually believe that?

Not sure why you and others find it necessary just to make silly # up.

Brainwashed? What is wrong with ANYONE saying our beloved president. Granted, I did it to trigger you guys because to be honest it is to easy but on a serious note...it has been used for centuries. They even used it in a wanted posted for Lincoln.

relaaaxxxxx......all I was pointing out in this OP is that he is keeping another campaign promise and I will f'n guarantee if Obama donated ANY of his salary to the NAACP he would have gotten another Nobel.

You realize you have chosen to argue over an arbitrary word to describe someone right? It is not even a part of what the OP is about? Why?

If you love the president, something is wrong.

It appears that may not be entirely correct. Anyway, I think it's a pointless gesture that appeals to those who get excited about meaningless #.

And I'm not sure what the NAACP has to do with anything either. Did you use that as an example just because Obama is black?

Nope. Try again.

For the first time in a long time I feel like we are one as country moving forward and things are not being done 'globally' as an 'agenda'. We are trying to take care of things at home. Tax breaks. Tariffs. MArket Gains. Job Gains. Less Unemployment. I distinctly remember hearing how it would be chaos and basiclly the end of the world in the media and on ATSNN.

You can listen to the media but the 2018 and 2020 elections are a lock. Done deal. Why? Because of things like this that the 'average centralist voter' will respond to. In 2016 the voter was heard but had not won. In 2018 you are going to see an even bigger shift. Come 2020 with a few more SCOTUS nominations hopefully we are back to a country who will work together instead of the media and corrupt politicians pandering to the fringe to garner support and create fear and division. If you think the government was better off at anytime in the last 15 years than it is today you are simply blinded by hate.

I don't believe that is an honest assessment. If it would have been someone else without the history of someone such as yourself, I would say it is reasonable, if not most likely, that the term was used arbitrarily.

In your case, no. Just by reading your post history it is reasonable to say that you do actually view Trump in such a manner, and that is the most disturbing part.

Okay, so I went out and looked for a news story ... because this surprised me.

2017 Vanity Fair - no evidence of Trump following through on promise to donate salary

Article confirms a first and second QUARTERLY donation - the ones we've heard about - Forest service and Education.

And reports that he said he'd donate the third quarter to help opioid crisis

(2017 - conservative leaning source) Trump has kept at least one paycheck

2018 first quarter salary to go to infrastructure

So these donations were announced - we should look at the individual departmental financials to see if they were actually received and what happened to them.

Seriously, the reach is strong with this one. These things take time.

The conclusion I came to was that unlike the claims of the original post, these donations had been mentioned in the media. They'd probably have gotten a lot more attention if other news from the WH and immediate circles hadn't been so over the top.

The same happened to big parts of the printing industry after digitalisation changed the whole business.

Regulations didn't kill the printing industry, which is what we were talking about.

And we don't have loads of coal in the cellar for heating anymore btw, things change.

Yes they do, but the rate that regulations changed them left a lot of people and communities struggling to survive. It didn't have to be that way.

en.wikipedia.org...

Coal power in the United States accounted for 39% of the country's electricity production at utility-scale facilities in 2014, 33% in 2015, and 30.4% in 2016 Coal supplied 16.5 quadrillion BTUs of primary energy to electric power plants in 2013, which made up nearly 92% of coal's contribution to energy supply.

Take a look at that. Obama shut the coal industry down that fast without even a solution to go along with that many people out of work. That showed just how much he cared for those families.

Why should we keep your backwards leaning industry running for the luls, that's the capitalism you want?

If it provides a decent living wage, which helps the economy, and improving the lives of millions with electricity, then yes. The way you are talking about it makes me wish coalmines would actually go on strike until people started begging to have their lights turned back on. Backwards. Show a little respect for those that risk their lives so you can enjoy the privilege of watching your favorite programming or the ability to get online so you can call them backwards.

This world isn't finished with changing yet, ya know.

It never will be. Change is a universal constant.

Hold on a second... I'm not a part of either group, hating or loving Trump, but there's something to be said when nearly no one that likes him actually addresses him spending millions on snip like golfing... Something Obama was crapped on all the time for doing. Acting like Trump simply deserves it is just deflecting the issue, either a president is just fine to loiter a lot, or they're not.

Double standards suck no matter who they benefit.

That’s cool. If i had wealth i’d work for nothing just to help.

I hope america gets better. For years i hated everyone because everything always seemed to get worse and nobody took a stand against corruption. I always felt a commugnity should take care of themselves first then help others if tbey had a surplus. I hope he can bring back an age of commonsense
