That's obvious. The only use for Siri on my sons phone is telling me the turns to take when we're driving in a new area.

They just put all the data in their computers and sort for patterns and categories.

They don't understand what kind of sorting place they're in, the categories earth tests put souls in afterwards, theirs included. They're creating their next step and will experience what they've done first hand. A nazi type realm.

No, TV is on and happened to see an advert for one of them and it just struck me that within a decade or so at most most people will get there information this way from a handful of sources.
At least with a browser you can check sources although as proved constantly most people don't.

So what's the difference between in a decade or right now? Most people google something and that's that. Hence the spate of Mandela effect Zomgorzorz...

But if you had a verbal interface to ask for information, and didn't have to sit there and type or tap, why would you suddenly go "Aww it sounds human, it must be right!" ? Why would you stop being thorough?

As you said, most people aren't, anyway at this point....

I see nothing wrong with something you can ask human questions to and get the exact same information that you do now, spoken in reply. I just think that right now it's a gimmick, and more of a pain in the ass to use (cortana) than of any real use.

Kinda funny to see so much doom and gloom when all it is, is a different interface to exactly what you use now... turn off the PC, Phone, Laptop, Tablet. Disconnect your TV, don't pay your electricity bill, live in a tent far far away... the bogey man is coming...

Don't trust 'em man, seriously.

I asked cortana to make me a sammich, and she said "Ummm.. No."

They're teaching 'em to be just like the real thing...

Won't use any of them.

The problem is that "they" don't need them.

Your dishwasher, TV, Frig, all of them spy on you. Anything with a camera and or wifi capability.

The problem is going to be finding appliances that don't have those capabilities.

The future is awesome!!!!

Not.

Unlikely. I am a diehard futurist. I guess thats what you get when your early years was filled with The Jetsons, Star Trek, and a steady heaping scifi and fantasy.
Hell, I would probably get the version 2 brain implant. (let others test out the first generation. will be too expensive and buggy)

Umm, you don't see the continuing irony of your logic here?

Aye. To be honest I think it IS already partly in our heads. Just not literally/physically. AI is more prevalent in our society than we realize. I personally don't think we as a species should be messing about with big things like AI, GMOs etc - as we have NO idea of the consequences. We should not be messing about with stuff we do not understand!

There is already an AI 'Deep Mind Cloud' - this cloud will find and group together any AI software that is uploaded (no matter if its a civilian individual messing about with AI or companies like Hanson Robotics/Google etc) though obviously that cloud is not available to the public!!

Interesting to note that Elon Musk says its the worse danger to befall humanity. And that the only way for humanity to survive is to integrate....

Obviously I can't know for sure if he really is for or against AI - but he seems pretty genuine when he talks about his fears for humanity under an AI rule..

Scary scary thought.

Seen Transcendence?

You sure do use the word "we" a lot. Best to replace it with "I". Some people know full well how integrated it already is in society, how it will effect us now and down the line, and if they should be messing around with it.

AI will eventually (short term eventually, not like several hundred years, but in a few decades) outperform humans in every single job, from surgeons, general labor, architecture, etc etc...even the arts. That is the reality of our existance...and its going to happen even if the entire western world banned AI (because the west is not the world...)

We will then need a radical new way of living, or simply die from being obsolete. Now, people making their fortunes today will be fine. People however middle class and below today (most of us) are going to be in for a bit of a ride however given our jobs will be replaced by AI with no fields that would need us.

Thats not good

What it may eventually lead to though is that socialist utopia scifi ppl keep yammering on about....because with all industries automated, prices for anything and everything becomes fractions of a penny on the dollar, so basic needs would be no issues from even a small amount of tax skimmed off the rich. Problem would be of course trying to get anything more than that as even things like art would be better with AI than the human counterpart...so people will be sort of stuck.

That however changes with integration. We become the AI (integration) and suddenly we are relevant again. Perhaps not in things like physical demands (surgery and stuff) but in creative pursuits, certainly. I believe that is the real threat of AI overall, and what people like Musk and others speak of...Its a real threat to our very way of life and the only out is to merge and evolve with it.

I have seen that Musk interview. Scaurrry indeed. He has a point there.
If we look back to all of our technological inovations, we can see that the wide majority of them have been driven by two major factors. One, is military. This goes back to who knows when. In order to make the more advanced weapons like cannon and catapult, knowledge of gravity and force were necessary to develop.
The other motivation, especially since the industrial revolution has been profit. That is how I see our problem. Research and innovation come about because someone wants to exploit the new technology rather than inventing things with the motive of bettering mankind, making peoples life better.

And certainly while these go hand in hand, the profit motive walks ahead of considerations for safety and health. Asbestos. Lead. Nicotine. ETC.

This innovation will continue unabated I think and with little concern for the overall ramifications for the masses, other than will they have the ability to buy whatever is dreamed up.

And with the advancing nano-tech and printing capabilities, who needs us any longer to build their pyramids for them.

The mistake is choosing the cheap general AI. Eventually we will have personal, customizable AIs. Using a keyboard is so yesterday.

The dream.

Everyone has a butler. It won't replace the girl/boyfriend, but it may replace the dog.

I'm hoping the canine grows a thumb and starts running every thing.. I only take a cell phone when I'm going fishing out on the boat. I used to HAVE TO HAVE A CELL and it was a nightmare as I was working Narcotics and a lot of that work is done w/the assistance of Confidential Informants (people who tell on their friends, but NEVER give up their #1 spot to cop) This was when 'pagers' were still being used. Because most were 'crankers' they'd think nothing about calling at 3 or 4 in the morning and whispering "they know I told.."
I have NEVER driven by a pay phone with a long line of people waiting to use the phone, so what made all of these calls "important"? On the way to an appointment some TURD came into My lane (head on type) and veered off at the last second. I thought for sure the Flori-DUH State Trooper saw everything but alas, She was talking on Her cell phone looking the other way... For those of Us that don't drive and type, when We get killed do We get more for Our survivors?
TURDS!
