Im really quite shocked at the condition of the planes. There was one pic that you could quite easily make out the 4 kill marks on it.

I'm glad that he is using his $$$$ to help find these really important parts of our history.

My experience with WWII mission records is that most planes flew with multiple pilots (or crew in the case of bombers) and vice versa. I'd imagine the records went down with the ship, but I hope someone is able to piece together more of the history.
