It’s unfortunate they didn’t limit their carbon footprint 7000 years ago to avoid sea level rise. Right?

How would a comet strike sink cities world wide? Raising sea levels due to loss of ice on land explains the evidence of world wide sunken cities.

Thanks.

A comet striking the north america ice sheet at the end of the last ice age, around 10,200 - 9,500 bc. If the comet struck the ice sheet, there would be very minimal to no evidence left of the impact. I wonder where all of that water would have done? That along with the warm up of the earth's atmosphere would have caused massive melting even for the ice that wasn't directly impacted.

Yes.

I've read a theory that the Grand Canyon didn't take millions of years to carve.

It was due to an Ice Dam breaking and all the water rushing out from behind it.

Comet strikes the arctic. Ice melts. Sea level rises. Cities drown. Pretty straightforward.

The Lake Missoula event(s) are kind of a dry run (sorry) for the real thing. It was kind of a proof-of-concept. The thing is, one event does not preclude another. You can have both. You can have the Grand Canyon carved out over Millennia and still have those catastrophic events happen over the top of the 'long haul' event. The scientific community has grudgingly admitted the Lake Missoula event(s) but hasn't quite gotten there for the 12000BC Extravaganza. We of course do not know what exactly happened, but somehow we must explain how those ruins got below the sea, not just off Florida, but off Japan, off India, etc. It's the big elephant in the room.

It depends upon how deep the water is and if the ruins are actually ruins rather than natural features.

India? Do you mean Dwarka? Those are indeed ruins and they are pretty deep (70 feet). But it is not just rising seas which cause ruins to submerge.

One comet did all this? How much energy does that require to melt that much ice covering half a continent?

I don't even want to think of doing that equation. Maybe someone in a high school physics class wants to make this a project?

Have you ever seen an ice cube with unfrozen water in the center? : P Glaciers are very fluid as they thaw and refreeze and lock away water.

Now take a 3 mile wide comet slamming into earth head-on into the ice shelf = catastrophic flooding.

A mile wide asteroid could release about 1 million megatons of energy, 10x that energy with a comet of the same size.

People,
Please focus.
This site dates almost 4000 years after the YDB event. Whatever sea level fluctuations were induced by the event had sorted themselves out 3000 years earlier.
The real importance is that it is a 1000 years older than the next oldest bog burial site in florida, windover.
It is very significant for a few reasons.
First, the windover people were the eastern most expression of the western basket maker culture which moves east well after the YDB event from the basin and ranges.
The basket makers were an outgrowth of the earlier western stemmed tradition lithic complex, who were the western contemporaries of the Clovis people.
I know people are going. "Aaannnd?" right now.
So, the Clovis homeland is the southern/se US, and the Clovis used peat bogs to cache game for later retreival and use.
The Windover burials were previously the oldest known example of MtDna HG X2A, until Kennewick was sequenced and shown to be 1000 years older.
But Kennewick is clearly an outsider from the north (beringian?), as shown by his Ox isotope ratios.
So this new find shows that people in florida (presumed to be Clovis related) were practicing bog burials( clovis buried game in bogs to preserve) 1000 years before the basket makers show up.
The basket makers have roots in OR/CA/NV going back a min of 16,000 years.
Here is the $10,000 question,
Is Kennewicks HG X northern on its way south or is it southern that went north and is on its way south again?.
And how do the thick body points(el jobo/Taima taima) of the south american people that moved north through the basin and ranges area all the way to alaska, figure in?, the people in florida were using a derivative of these SA points.

This happened at the end of the last Ice Age. things were already warming up. Have you ever been on the shores of Lake Michigan during Winter? If you have, you know already that the ice builds up on shore to the point that when you walk on top of the ice and look down six to ten feet to the water below. Now extrapolate that to Hudson Bay, which is, of course, ad old meteor crater. So the earth is warming. The ice is melting. What was once ice is now a very large lake with a whole lot of water behind this massive ice dam. And JUST LIKE LAKE MISSOULA, the comet strikes. There is a breach. The water rushes out. The sea rises. The coastal civilizations disappear. The flood legend begins. That's the basic story.

They will find all the plastic waste we made.

Ohh and Fukushima... Chernobyl etc

Plus thousands of cargo containers lost at sea. 130 million of them are transported yearly, four ships are lost every day(?).

Sorry, not sourced, soemthing I caught on TeeVee.

Imagine the future of archeology, the sea floor littered with thousands of cargo containers, their contents mostly intact.

This is my 2 cents worth...

Take a look at a topographic map of North America. The East Coast has the Appalachian Mountain range and the Wast Coast has the Rocky Mountains. From Canada all the way to the Gulf of Mexico is a broad, flat plain. Looks to me that the mountains between the Appalachians and Rockies were washed away. This would also explain all the islands in the Caribbean as silt piles. Would be interesting to see if the deeper areas of these islands is consistent with North America or South America.
This also may go a way explaining why North America has nor megaliths such as Egypt or Peru...they were washed away.

The sea levels rose when the last ice age ended and the ice sheets melted. And we've been looking at lea levels just beginning to make VERY slight decreases as more ice increases at the poles. That's why you just have to laugh at alarmist and unfounded claims about trends decades from now where sea levels have risen. There's no scientific basis there, its politicized. Florida always fascinated me for its limestone springs and underwater caves which showed signs of habitation in years past.

That happened too. Erosional memories, brilliant.

So is that vid showing the topography as it was before and carving it out or now and filling in the flow?

Grand canyon the same way, took a couple hrs.

What about the Carolina bays?

www.scientificpsychic.com...

Look where they point.

The Carolina Bays are ellipses although some lack bilateral symmetry along either the major or minor axis. The southeast portion of many bays is more pointed than the northwest end and the northeast side bulges slightly more than the southwest side. Known major axis dimensions vary from approximately 60 meters to 11 kilometers. The Carolina Bays display a northwest-southeast orientation. Deviations from this orientation appear to be systematic by latitude (Prouty, 1952).

Comet and it's little buddies.

The Carolina bays have a complicated history, some involving the YDB impact event but they were not formed by the YDB impact.

1. Introduction
The Carolina Bays are shallow elliptical depressions with raised rims
that occur on the Atlantic Coastal Plain along the east coast of the United
States. The geometrical elliptical shape of the bays and their particular
orientation first became apparent from aerial photographic surveys. Because
the bays have very regular shapes that are very different from
other geological structures, Melton and Schriever (1933) suggested
that they had been created by a swarm of oblique meteorite impacts.
However, meteorite fragments are not common in the region where
the bays are located, and the alignment of the bays varies by latitude instead
of being parallel as would have been expected for impacts by extraterrestrial
objects. The lack of impact evidence led to hypotheses of
geological mechanisms that could have produced the bays, such as the
modification of karst-like depressions by the action of water and wind
(Johnson, 1942). In 1975, Eyton and Parkhurst proposed that the
Carolina Bays could have formed by air blasts from explosions of fragments
of a disintegrating comet. Dating studies of the bays have concluded
that the bays were formed over an extended period of time
during the Late Pleistocene starting approximately 140,000 years ago
(Brooks et al., 2010), thus precluding the possibility that all the bays
formed at the same time.

A model for the geomorphology of the Carolina Bays

If anyone is interested in the YDB event I have collected most if not all of the scientific papers available.
