There is an ongoing Hazmat situation at Myers-henderson Hall on base. The building was evacuated according to the US Marines twitter feed. 3 people are hospitalized in stable condition. A number of the injured are Marines.

Eleven people reported feeling ill, Arlington fire officials said. People in the building took "immediate preventative measures" and evacuated the building, the Marine Corps said on Twitter, adding that several Marines were those receiving medical care. People inside the office where the letter was opened said they began feeling poorly and complained of sore throats, a spokesperson at the military base told The Associated Press.

If nothing else you're creating a compelling plot for a good movie.

Scary stuff here.

I imagine everyone would feel ill after something like that! Let's hope it is simply psychosomatic symptoms and not sometime more heinous.

It's either a suicide or something really scary.

Not much in between those.

The letter has been sent to Quantico for further testing. Some of the ill people had nosebleeds and burning hands and face. They are all expected to recover. So that's good news. The letter contained derogatory language. But they don't say what it said.

I've tried looking up any updates but it seems the initial reports back 13-16 hours ago are the only news on this subject. No updates since... wonder if they will provide the public with an update after Quantico FBI run tests on the substance

Anthrax fits the bill
www.cdc.gov...

Fever and chills
Swelling of neck or neck glands
Sore throat

I don't suppose they had been taking Cipro like Bush and Cheney did after 9/11 but Tom Daschle wasn't when he got a funny letter.

That is some serious stuff to give off auto nose bleeds

Likely same bunch that sent powered sugar to the official family

only 2 mi. from the pentagon

I think this crap will be over as soon as spring is sprung.

I liken it to feeding mature johnson grass to cattle.

Field tests were negative for harmful substances, but i don't know if anthrax can be detected with a field test.

Latest update i've seen is that further testing is being done at Quantico. I hope they release the results soon.

The letter was addressed to a Commander on the base. I'm trying to find his name. Parts of the letter were unintelligible. I'm looking for a link to add, i saw it on the news earlier.
