But seeing as so many people just dumb this stuff down and use "socialism" as a catchall bogeyman term for anything they don't like,

Au contraire.

The only free corporate product we don't have the right to is a firearm, says the SOCIALISTS.

Liar. I'm a socialist and I believe in gun ownership. I just don't believe in the absurd, "more guns will solve the problem" BS that a lot of rightwingers believe in.

I encourage women to own guns because society won't protect them and I encourage Muslim Americans to get our guns and know our gun rights for the same reason. So you're barking up the wrong tree with that crap.

I'm surprised Wayne LaPierre can spell socialism.

Sarcasm aside, were there any details as to exactly how they plan to "defeat" socialism?

Or is it just the usual right-wing paranoia?

Blood tests, as all real Americans bleed red, white, and blue, anyone who only bleeds red is obviously a socialist.

Ah yes, the NRA dusted off this old conservative bogeyman during CPAC. I see that scared conservatives are as misinformed as ever about how Socialism works.

For one Socialiam != anti-gun
Soooo... NRA even using this bogeyman should cause the collective eyerolling of the whole nation.

Might want to stop using that phrase right winger since your preferred ideology is right wing.

Ha!
But the quote indicates that the particular style of socialism they're freaking out about is "European."
That blood can't be all red. This could get complicated...

yep it seems trump is racing to 30T faster than any other president before. That is not cool but we did have to choose between the queen of nuke and the king of debt.

Some of the changes you mention are good but accepting socialism overall is suicide. There has to be lines drawn against socialism communism and also capitalism.

I would not take it personal that overall socialism is a killer of economy.

What we actually have here is a mix between many different forms of control and it is my opinion that at this time we have to push back before we lose it all.

So many folks possessed by debt would not shed a tear if we lost the country and fell by the wayside.

I may be contrary but i do value your input even though you advocate for my countries demise.

(in Marxist theory) a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of communism.

com·mu·nism
ˈkämyəˌnizəm/Submit
noun
a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.

i bet that sounds familar

so....all property should be privately owned?...is that what you're saying?....so dictators and kings (by force), and a few wealthy individuals (enough money to buy the land) , should own all the property....because back in Marx's day, that's how it was.....the tzars, the French nobility, England's king.....they all controlled the land and the wealth...which lead to the Russian revolution, the French revolution, and the American revolution

I think if you look at the nordic countries and "some" of their programs, some, so called socialist programs would work here.

The big issues is that we already have most of those socialist programs in the USA already, but they're broken. We probably waste more money on our education, welfare, social security, medicaid, medicare and other safety net programs than all of those countries combined. If we just tweaked them a little bit and cut out the waste.

We'll never get rid of capitalism and the entreprenuerial and individual freedom spirit here in the us, but it's time to look at what other countries do better than us and copy it.

That pound sign was the forum censor. You are welcome to press the quote button to know exactly what I said.

Though thanks for showing you are only talking out your ass and not saying anything intelligent.

Yes. Name one Socialist program that was removed due to Judicial Review. Just one.

I heard that when peoples argument fails they resort to pound signs.
Seems to be true in this case.

But anyone who supports or benefits from a 40 hour work week, overtime pay, employees being able to buy shares in the companies they work for, worker's compensation, unemployment benefits, employee profit sharing, and Social Security literally supports socialism in action. And if I had to guess, that includes plenty of people who work at gun manufacturers. Hence why this whole idea is stupid.

Complete nonsense. These were conceived in countries with free markets, and none of them require worker ownership of the means of production.
