Cave paintings and jewelry deemed too old to be made by Homo Sapiens

When I was in school I wrote a paper about a cave bear leg bone that was found in a cave in Slovenia in 1995. What was odd about the femur bone was it was punctured in a peculiar fashion.



The moment I saw it I thought "flute".

Now what is really amazing is that after carbon dating the bone, it was discovered to be 43,000 years old, and Homo sapiens would not migrate into the area for another 10,000 years. Which means that it was made by Neanderthals! Music was not our creation.
