Yes. I've had five kindles. I keep giving them away and one my husband dropped into a sink of soapy dirty dish water.
I have two right now that I alternate on.
You can also download the FIOS app and get tv on it if you subscribe.

The kindle comes with a Silk browser. You have to add your WiFi connection and it will search for a signal where ever you are. As long as you have a password or if it's an open connection you will get the internet. If you get the internet you get YouTube.
I'm on my kindle right now. I prefer it to sitting at my desk with the computer.
You can choose your search engine from Google Bing or silk.

My very first kindle years ago now was an e reader that used 4G technology to connect to the web so you could download books. It also picked up content from the web but no pictures. I used it to access ATS on it and it had a tiny keyboard not a touch screen.
I have a ten inch and a seven inch now. Make sure you get the fire HD not just fire. One has more memory and is much faster.

I just got my seven inch in November I think. My big one is having charging issues and I thought it was dying. It's still got issues but it's still kicking so I alternate them.
You can get Netflix on them too.

Had one that I thought was charging issues with the battery but it turned out to be the port. If you charge them while you're using them, the cord moves around and stretches out the metal around the port [ gets all wallered out ] and you don't get a good connection. A small flat screwdriver helps to [ carefully ! ] bend it back/make the port tighter and fixes the connection problem.
Worked for me when a new cord didn't fix it, so.....might help?

You can do pretty much anything a tablet. There are 1000s of FREE apps games, music like Iheart radio. AMAZON APP STORE, if you get a kindle, if you just get a regular android tablet Google Play will be on your tablet when you buy it. You can get a nice one, fairly cheap.

There are free games, Candy Crush, Pacman, whatever.

Tons of steaming video, pretty much any satellite, cable subscription you can stream on your tablet, you just get the app....

YouTube, plus apps like Crackle that show free movies....

Have fun!

You can watch stuff on kindle, and kindle can watch stuff on you.

It has a microphone that as far as I know, is only used for this purpose.

I had to hack my fianceés Kindle to get Google play. For the life of me, I can't remember how I did it but there are tutorials online.

Installing the Google Play App Store is easy on the Fire tablets.
And that will allow you to install the YouTube app.
There are 4 small files that need to be downloaded.....instructions are all over the web.
I have the 7 inch and the 10 inch Fire tablets and installing Google Play is a must on them, IMO.
