The signs have been pointing to this for some time now and it looks like the speculation was correct and Rick Gates is finalizing a deal with the Mueller team.

Exclusive: A top Trump campaign adviser close to plea deal with Mueller

Washington (CNN)Former Trump campaign adviser Rick Gates is finalizing a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller's office, indicating he's poised to cooperate in the investigation, according to sources familiar with the case.

Gates has already spoken to Mueller's team about his case and has been in plea negotiations for about a month. He's had what criminal lawyers call a "Queen for a Day" interview, in which a defendant answers any questions from the prosecutors' team, including about his own case and other potential criminal activity he witnessed.

"Nobody (who's charged) goes in to provide incriminating information to the government unless it's part of plea negotiations," said a criminal defense attorney who represents a witness in the case. In a Queen for a Day interview, a defendant can typically admit to crimes with little additional consequences, unless he or she lies.

After the interview, there's a very small chance a defendant could turn back toward fighting the charges, according to several lawyers who specialize in federal criminal cases.

This reporting comes amidst that of a transition in Gates's legal representation. Two weeks ago, three lawyers representing Gates filed to be removed from the case. When the motion was unsealed by the judge, the reason that was given was revealed to be "irreconcilable differences."

Shortly before this, a lawyer who specializes in high profile plea deals, Thomas Green, began representing Gates separate from his primary legal team.

The judge hasn't ruled on the lawyers' request yet and yesterday, Gates filed a pro se motion (one filed without lawyers) asking the judge to wait a week before considering his lawyers' request to be removed.

Not much else to add at this point other than this is of course very bad news for Paul Manafort.

Lets hope some more indictments drop soon.
This needs to be brought before the people as quickly as possible.

It would also increase the pressure to cooperate on Gates' co-defendant Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign chairman, who has pleaded not guilty to Mueller's indictment and is preparing for a trial onalleged financial crimes unrelated to the campaign.

That's a grade A NOTHING BURGER.

Unrelated to the campaign.

It's still unclear what Gates, who outlasted Manafort in the campaign and later worked on the Trump inaugural efforts, could share that would be of value to the Russian collusion investigators, outside the Manafort case.

So they STILL have nothing but don't give a rats ass just as long, and they can pin something, anything on Team Trump.

And if Never Trump thinks that's how the justice system should work.

They are sadly mistaken.

Yeah, I'm sure that Paul Manafort won't think so.

Unrelated to the campaign.

Who said that it did? Do you go into every thread and announce that it's a "nothing burger" because you don't think it has anything to do with Dear Leader?

The whole point of this bullsnip is to find out the veracity of the Never Trumps claims.

Russia meddling in our election.

A people coping to pleas that have nothing to do with is straight up BULL EFFING SNIP.

No "HQ Specials"?

Don't forget that Gates was involved with Kushners little computer project after Manafort got kicked to the curb.
I wonder what tales he has of those days?

This likely means bad news for Manafort's defense against the Ukrainian money laundering charges.

"Involved with" meant nothing until Hillary lost.
Now every one must pay, well except her.

Anyways, is there a "source" for your claim?

You seem really upset which is strange because you're not arguing that either of them are innocent.

a) CNN
b) Sources familiar with

Doesn't matter if they are innocent or guilty.

How you got here was ILLEGAL.

Fruit of the poisonous tree.

Manafort and Gates could be key to bringing down a whole host of lobbyists and quite possibly politicians. As I've said in past threads, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see some indictments coming down the line for people involved in the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine lobbying (those from Mercury and the Podesta Group).

What evidence has the Mueller team obtained illegally or are you just saying "fruit of the poisonous tree" because you think it sounds cool?

The entire process was started by a falsified dossier.

Why are the usual suspects ignoring it?

Because they hate Trump so much they don't care about the law being broken to get their little way?

It's possible. When they reach Mark Warner and John McCain it will be time to break out some popcorn and enjoy the show.

The Hill - Gowdy: Memo has no impact on Russia probe

"There is a Russia investigation without a dossier. So to the extent the memo deals with the dossier and the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] process, the dossier has nothing to do with the meeting at Trump Tower. The dossier has nothing to do with an email sent by Cambridge Analytica."

He added that the dossier has "nothing to do with George Papadopoulos's meeting in Great Britain."

"It also doesn't have anything to do with obstruction of justice. So there's going to be a Russia probe, even without a dossier," he said.
