Is the Bible origin more important then the message?

I have read countless posts regarding the books of the Bible and over the years and have had heated discussions.

To me, The Bible boils down to this. In the begining there was god. Then there was man. God provided for man. Love each other, and share in the bounty I have provided. Simple.

What has happened is that man has used God to elevate himself above his fellow man in the name of gain or recognition. He has hoarded resources and used currency and government to enslave and or oppress in the name of gain.

The Bible arguement to me is a something not worth argueing. Did we not learn from Jesus? Love one another my brothers and Sisters.

Dont worry about the text. Live the text. The text is divinely inspired, and corrupted through babyl. Listed to the message. The text I wrote in the first line would suffice for mankind. If we would all just stop and listen to ourselves, and our world.

My suggestion. Get yourself a copy of Desiderata. Its the idiots guide to the bible and allot easier to understand. Ive pasted a copy of it. I have been hit by a bolt of lightening by God living this. I am proof positive. For this was gods intent. Adam and Eve werent presented with bibles or prayer guides.

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

People cast doubts on the origens of the bible to aid in discrediting the religious, and proving thier superiortiy over them

The problem is that different groups define the words/meaning/message differently. So how can one say what THE message is in an absolute sense even within the groups that all follow the bible?

While I do agree that it is the case with some, but certainly not all.
Most people cast doubts because well there is just that ....doubts!

The Bible is the word of God, the meaning is more importmant because its the word of God. Period.

I completely agree.. it is the message that is important not the messenger.
Even as an atheist I share the same philosophy and try live it. I think the main problem comes when other belief systems promote the same message.. it's as though the simple message of love is null in void if it is not ordained by one peticular god.
'You can be nice to eachother so long as the bible/koran etc. told you to be nice.'
It's not really relevent where someone gets the message.. so long as they get it.

That is exactly right. For even the atheist will beleive that Love is the way who has cast aside religion. Religion exists for religion. Love exists for good. Even the atheist, unknowingly will pass, for it is not the recogntion of the Lord, but the recognition of being a good person and acting in accord for the good of all men. Dammit. An atheist. That made my whole day pardna.

Peace
