You guys are predictable.

Our society is sick and needs help, needs solutions.

Lets try another approach than just arguing the same old stuff

Go ahead try your solution of a gun every five yards.

If you bothered to read my posts I am complaining about the fact than NOTHING is being tried to solve this.

I'd be willing to try the gun on every corner approach, if you'd be willing to try the opposite if your approach doesn't work.

Your all such automatic thinkers

open your closed minds

I agree, the dumbest thing to possibly do is argue that more guns are needed, that says a whole lot about the poor state of the education system.

Since kids are targets and stupid people want more guns in school the only solution for parents is to take their kids out of school, I know if I lived in the U. S I certainly would.

Ok.

First? STOP BLAMING THE GUN!

Second? STOP coddling the children. Stop babying the children. Stop isolating the children. Stop giving them a ####ing trophy every time they take a crap!

Life is hard. Bullying exists. Peer groups exist. YOU WON'T ALWAYS GET YOUR WAY!

TEACH your children to COPE with societal stresses in a more appropriate way than shooting up a god-damned school!

There.

There's your god-damned solutions.

I have no ready solutions to this complex problem.

I just say its dogmatic, fossilized thinking that is stopping the country from doing anything.

Fear of change. We obviously have a serious problem.

Some guy talks about laws. No body said anything about passing any laws...

Maybe a massive campaign like we sell soap, we might try to sell love or brotherhood.

Or have more money put in psychology to deal with mental illness.

Something intelligent, something that might stem the tide of our children being slaughtered should be tried.

and yet you dont live here. You live in Australia where you have very strict gun control laws and yet all of your law enforcement is still armed and you still have gun crimes in your country.

So who does those gun laws protect? The people who are disarmed by them or the criminal who ignore them and who are armed?

So spare the lecture would you please.

Just like locks on doors, laws are only for honest people. Locks don't stop burglars and more laws won't stop criminals.

Let's just get rid of laws. Make murder legal. Make rape legal. Why not.

Laws don't stop them, so let's get rid of the laws that don't prevent.

Excuse my french

It may be a gun problem, for you to totally dismiss that is wrong.

But my complaint is that the country refuses to DO ANYTHING about this.

None of which has ever been a factor in a killers mindset. They are going to do what they are going to do using their own set of moral standards and not societies.

Laws are present to deal with people who violate the social norms. The punishment for breaking those laws is suppose to be the deterrent. The point is laws dont matter to a person who has decided to ignore them and those laws dont matter to a person who is faced with an active shooter.

It's about defending that GD piece of paper all the talkers are snipping all over.

What can be done. Has.

What shouldn't have been done. Has.

Putting more money into mental health, and getting people to stop demonizing those with a mental health issue, is a good idea.

I would also like to add what DB is stating, that we (or rather parents since not everyone here is a parent) should stop with the "F'ing" snowflake mentality. Look your kids are special, I get it, but that doesn't mean that the world cares. You should be teaching your kids that the world isn't an easy place to live, and that sometimes things don't go the way you want. When that happens you either can learn from the event, or try and avoid it in the future.

The problem is that parents for some reason (I'm not going to name whos to blame since most of us can already guess where the two biggest problems came from) seem to think that their kids should be protected from the world. It's not a realistic thing to do, it's not a healthy mindset to teach, an it's not a safe reality to push.

If you don't change the behavior, then the person will just use a different weapon.

People don't get that if you change the behavior, then that eliminates the shooting before it even starts!

Just denying a killer a weapon does not stop the person's mentality.
