States don't have the funds to do all the infrastructure. Thats why I posted the pension obligations. If they did, it would all be done and more projects would be happening.

Are you contending all of Texas's infrastructure needs are being met?

You are making this a partisan issue, I just want the work started and paid for in some manner.

Idaho has been republican run for 30 years. There are lots of rural towns and low wages. There are 85,000 idahoans who rely on snap for food supplement.
My solution is to borrow more money.

I provided a link from forbes that showed 2 bil spent on highway improvements begun in 2013 without a ridiculous $0.25 per gallon tax on gasoline.
2 bil from the state rainy day fund, not from the fed or any other state.

That is AFTER money spent recovering from hurricane harvey.


The pension link you posted was from dec of 16. The dow closed 16 at 19,762.60. Today the dow is at 24,640. Perhaps those pension woes have been remedied?

Michigan spent 3.8 B in 2014 on roads and they still suck and are in need of major improvements.

That's how major an issue infrastructure is. I'm sure Michigan isn't the only State facing such issues.

how about a 2 to 4 cent per dollar sales tax on everything not currently under fedral sales tax and that way everybody would contribute even non documented immigrants.

Taxes like that are the only way to really raise revenue. They are fair because everyone shares the burden of government. I personally think everyone shouldn't receive any kind of tax return. Once people feel the burden for what they vote for they'll stop voting for it.

You do realize that would only serve to screw over the millions of people who live pay check to pay check and rely on their tax return to help make payments and whatnot at this time of year.

You are missing the point.

We are all in need of more money spent on infrastructure. Hardly any State is doing great in this regard.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. The tolls exacted would be used on that particular road.

Or something of the sort. No, I don't think I'd have much of an issue with that. Provided that the money is used to maintain the roads and not used for other things.

The idea is certainly worth considering.
