I don't have to quote subsidized rent on my return, so you could be right about this. I'm going to find a phone number for the organisation that handles free tax help and see if they can answer my questions over the phone. Doing the form won't be a problem as long as this issue gets resolved.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened in the ER. Did you follow this up with a complaint to your State's medical board? I did this with a previous provider who discharged me from her practice not long after she found I no longer had insurance. She was very difficult too and has had other complaints according to a physician in our local urgent care center, which is upstairs from her office. As far as I know, my former doctor still works there. I filed a complaint against her with the State, to which they paid lip service. How they can ignore complaints from a number of patients - not just one - is beyond me.

I hope that your daughter is ok and that everything worked out for her.

I'm going to Wally World later today and will pick up extra supplements for my diabetes, which is type 2 like you said. Which ones would you recommend? I already have inulin, which I ordered online, but my np told me to hold off on starting it. I don't see why I have to keep waiting. If it will help, so be it. Imo a patient should be in the driver's seat when it comes to decisions on his/her medical care. A doctor/np/whatever should not be a dictator.

I haven't seen my difficult neighbor since last week's incident. Good. I don't need to go through that again. I never thought that anyone could raise such a fuss over something that was extremely stupid.

I was on Federal Employee Health Benefits at the time and couldn't afford total Medicare and FEHB at the same time. I took Part A only, not knowing there would be a huge lifetime penalty that would have to be paid in addition to the premium, should I sign up for it in the future.

So, I am stuck. Too many people are taken by surprise about this charge and imo it s/b revoked. I don't understand why the gov't won't budge. One person told me he didn't understand why they charge this penalty. He said that I saved the goverment a ton of money for all the years I didn't have Parts B, C, D etc.....by not using it. He's right. It's unfair to penalise someone for not using it because of the lack of money.

A grade 4, step-4 Federal disabled retiree doesn't make a whole lot. You'd think the morons in DC would understand this.

Hi again Diana. 'Couple things. Dont know why you have just Medicare Part A unless its because you get SSDI...and something to do with your retirement federally as a former employee. (I am now). You should be able to qualify somehow for Medicare/Medicaid...of which Medicaid has a $ waiver program. Unless you just get too much money monthly/yearly. I'd field Medicare or Senior Alliance Area on Aging your concerns to help you out.

The bus thing is true. Locally,senior/disabled transportation buses can accommodate the disabled/w lift to an extent. Wheelchairs can remain strapped, rider in place. I transport people on that part time. Although you qualify for that,you may need either an escort or a specific medical transportation bus. There is a difference.

Sounds as tho you need subsidized, locally supported medically trained transportation to and from wherever. And yes you can remain in your chair. I have about 7 I transport 2 days weekly to therapy, treatment, appts, groceries, Walmart even. In their chairs, 6 straps...4 on bases...2 across lap and shoulder.

I think maybe your contacting the wrong bus-type-service in your own community (like general public transportation). Good luck.....best...MS

I didn't... I meant to, but was preoccupied with my daughter at the time, and never got back to it...

Thank you so much -- and yes, she is doing really great these days. After many trips to the ER and countless doctor visits, one doctor finally decided to do exploratory surgery and found the problem -- a twisted ovary (ouch!!!) -- which can ONLY be found with surgery. I had never even heard of such a thing before that. So thank Heaven for that doctor because she gave my daughter much needed healing and relief.

This is the one my mother took (and her doctors very much approved): Nature's Way Completia® Diabetic Multivitamin
I know Walmart carries this brand of vitamin, and it's a pretty good whole food-based supplement, so I hope they carry this diabetic formula too.

Vitamin D3 (in oil, like a softgel or capsule) is also an excellent supplement for diabetes. My mother was taking about 4,000 IUs (again with her doctors' approval). The Vitamin D Council website had some good information about the benefits for diabetics.

Eventuall, FEHB grew to be so expensive I couldn't afford to use it, so I gave it up. I then tried to get the rest of Medicare I need and was informed of that late signup fee.

I'm still trying to get someone in the gov't to get that reversed. They had a temporary waiver for it last year but I didn't qualify. Not sure why unless it's because I no longer work for the gov't.
