I say this because I'm a USA Veteran that served during the Vietnam War. China was our enemy. You all understand that, don't you.
But yet today, hey , let's buy Chinese goods, even if they are laced with lead in the paints of guitars and toys and buy the frozen chickens that don't need to be inspected due to congress passing a bill that says that they don't need US health inspector going to china. In case you people don't know Mc'd and Kentucky Fried Chicken was one of the ones that got caught using Chinese "dead" chickens. Sales went really down here in Japan because of it and the KFC no longer imports nuggets and McD won't use or no longer import chicken brokers from China.

We can't raise our own chickens?
I can't eat them as fast as they reproduce.

You can, it's just cheaper to buy the contaminated ones from China, and cheaper means more profit..... Corporations like government only care about money, people suffering is simply collateral damage.

In all fairness people who eat fast food from chains like MacDonalds kinda deserve what they get, it's the lowest denominator, employing the worst paid workers in the western world, it's literally a recipe for disaster.

Not to mention the entitled customers whom chastise the workers at these places, the employees know they are underpayed and viewed as worthless peons, it's no wonder they act out the way they do.

The contamination from the source of food is the least of their worries....

Really? so the UK shouldn't buy German goods due to having been at war with them, we shouldn't buy USA goods either.
It is and always will be supply and demand China has the labour and the manufacturing all at a very cheap price which the rest of the world have been enjoying for years.
Sure complain for certain standards in the food industry but seeing that the USA allows none labeled GM food to be sold, to allow BGH to be injected into dairy cows I think you should be complaining closer to home.

Welcome to globalisation.

Plus, conflict is more likely to be averted if people trade and talk.

China may be a repressive on-party dictatorship that has killed millions of Chinese for political reasons, and is frankly an affront to people who believe in democracy, but they are a trading market. It's trade that makes the world go around at the moment.

And don't forget all of those nifty Japanese products. In fact, we've also gone to war with our other 2 largest trade partners, Canada & Mexico. And our "special relationship" with the British would need to disappear too, since we obviously have waged war against them too. (And ironically, the OP talked about fighting in the Vietnam War, yet we're allies with Vietnam right now, too lol.)

Wars between nations and/or kingdoms is what happens when powerful people from one map don't get favorable deals with powerful people from another map, so each group of powerful people sends poor people to kill each other until one of the groups of powerful people agrees to the others' demands.

"Kuchikomi
'Food terrorism' a new concern in China-Japan rift"

"It's 'food terrorism,'" says a source employed by one of Japan's security agencies. "Concerns have surfaced that the incident of poisoned 'gyoza' (pot-sticker dumplings) will be repeated. The existence has been confirmed of Chinese terrorists who may be plotting to lace food imports bound for Japan with poison, moved by the slogan 'Ai guo wu sui' (no guilt for criminal acts perpetuated in the name of patriotism)."

Oh and support North Korea, sooo...

shhh, we have three carrier groups, bases all around the Eastern Pacific, occupy Japan, Philipines, Korea, etc.

In fact we just installed THAAD missile 'defense' installations on the Korean Peninsula, pointing North.

The problem I have with Global Trade is that it is not Capitalism but Corporatism.
There is no compulsion or force in Capitalism but that is exactly what happens in China.
If we trade with a Communist Country, then the markets are no longer based on Capitalism.
Corporations benefit from the Communist Side of the equation with cheap labor that have no rights while still retaining the right to own their company that they would not be allowed to do under Communism.

American Corporations worked in Hitler's Nazi Germany and had no problem with his policies when it comes to profits.

Americans shout about the greatness of Capitalism and then purchase politicians, hire H2Bs, put in NIMBY policies in order to rig the markets in their favor rather than let the markets decide under Capitalism.

In China, the government owns all the Major Corporations.
If we nationalized all the major corporations in America, that would have a major impact on the markets, but yet China gets a free pass with this as long as their is money to be made for Corporations.

I don't think it is capitalism people love but a matter of taking advantage of the benefits of each system and discarding the things that are against their self interests.

We this a lot of with Socializing the losses and privatizing the profits policies.

You would have to ask Bill Clinton why we buy Chinese and why Walmart and Tyson (a corporate bond ) import so much Chinese. The answer to your riddlle probably lies somewhere in here..

You can buy a rooster and three hens for about 20 bucks. Soon after you will have chickens popping up like tribbles.
