Did they pay the money? Did they get hacking tools? Did they get Trump info?

according to the story, the CIA paid 100k for dirt on Trump.

The Russian provided the CIA with multiple deliveries between October and December “almost all of what he delivered was related to the 2016 election and alleged ties between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia, not the NSA or CIA hacking tools,” according to the Times. So here we have the CIA interfering in a U.S. election colluding with Russia.

Hillary Colluded with Russia,
The CIA Colluded with Russia...

CIA should have no part in an election..

It seems that top level people at the FBI were frothing at the mouth t get anything on Trump.

Remember Schumer telling trump that the intel community would find ways to get him?

Well apparently he wasnt kidding.

Recall too that Harry Reid was shooting off letters to John Brennan.

I haven't read the NYT article yet but I just finished reading one from James Risen at The Intercept. And it doesn't appear there is any involvement of the FBI or DOJ. It's the NSA and CIA.

The Intercept - U.S. Secretly Negotiated With Russians to Buy Stolen NSA Documents — and the Russians Offered Trump-Related Material, Too

It also doesn't sound like they wanted to touch the Trump-related material based on Risen's sources. Risen if you'll remember is the Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist (his Pulitzer was for uncovering an NSA surveillance program) who was targeted by both the Bush and Obama administrations.

They say the same thing in the NYT article. They were after hacking tools.

and yet....you ONLY said trump in your title...not hacking tools or means and methods....and the "trump" part was not the main reason

kinda sounds like the difference between a "4-page memo" and a "10-page memo"

if I was a spook in one those agencies and I was privy to Russian interference in our elections, I would be trying everything I could to find out the "who and what"....why is trying to find out about Russia hacking our elections is somehow construed as bring un-patriotic....and how can Hillary conspire with Russia to lose the election and have trump win...are you logic impaired?

To the contrary. They shut down negotiations when they fellow tried bait and switch.

He offered them a summary of what NSA tools had been stolen and then tried to pitch them on Trump material...Including a teaser 15 second clip of video that someone claimed was Trump and hookers.

Once they realized the guy was pitching Anti-Trump Material they told him Eff Off.

Did you bother to read?

After months of secret negotiations, a shadowy Russian bilked American spies out of $100,000 last year, promising to deliver stolen National Security Agency cyberweapons in a deal that he insisted would also include compromising material on President Trump, according to American and European intelligence officials.

...

Several American intelligence officials said they made clear that they did not want the Trump material from the Russian, who was suspected of having murky ties to Russian intelligence and to Eastern European cybercriminals. He claimed the information would link the president and his associates to Russia. Instead of providing the hacking tools, the Russian produced unverified and possibly fabricated information involving Mr. Trump and others, including bank records, emails and purported Russian intelligence data.

The United States intelligence officials said they cut off the deal because they were wary of being entangled in a Russian operation to create discord inside the American government. They were also fearful of political fallout in Washington if they were seen to be buying scurrilous information on the president.

www.redstate.com...

The most fascinating things about this whole story is that they refused to accept intelligence that might be damaging to Trump.

Early in the negotiations, for instance, he dropped his asking price from about $10 million to just over $1 million. Then, a few months later, he showed the American businessman a 15-second clip of a video showing a man in a room talking to two women.

No audio could be heard on the video, and there was no way to verify if the man was Mr. Trump, as the Russian claimed.

www.nytimes.com...

Rumors that Russian intelligence possesses the video surfaced more than a year ago in an explosive and unverified dossier compiled by a former British spy and paid for by Democrats. Since then, at least four Russians with espionage and underworld connections have appeared in Central and Eastern Europe, offering to sell kompromat to American political operatives, private investigators and spies that would corroborate the dossier, American and European intelligence officials said.

American officials suspect that at least some of the sellers are working for Russia’s spy services.

It would be worse than "un-patriotic" if as an intel agency they knew
the truth and twisted it to fit their own political ends.

Also the use of the word "hacking" is not really the best description
of what may have happened. The better description is "interfered"
or "influence". As far as we are told by the officials, there were
no votes changed, right?

and how can Hillary conspire with Russia to lose the election and have trump win...are you logic impaired?

She had every intention of winning, especially considering how much
money she paid to Russia to influence the election.

Yep. A down payment on 1M for a list of exactly what cyber tools Russia stole from NSA.

When the guy never provided that material and instead tried to pitch Trump Kompromat, they told him not interested.
They then tried to just hammer him. Either give up your whole network or eff off.

A few weeks later, the Russian began handing over data. But in multiple deliveries in October and December, almost all of what he delivered was related to the 2016 election and alleged ties between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia, not the N.S.A. or C.I.A. hacking tools.

In December, the Russian said he told the American intermediary that he was providing the Trump material and holding out on the hacking tools at the orders of senior Russian intelligence officials.

Early this year, the Americans gave him one last chance. The Russian once again showed up with nothing more than excuses.

So the Americans offered him a choice: Start working for them and provide the names of everyone in his network — or go back to Russia and do not return.

The Russian did not give it much thought. He took a sip of the cranberry juice he was nursing, picked up his bag and said, “Thank you.” Then he walked out the door.

and 100,000 dollar first installment was lost out of a 1,000,000 dollars promised...seems like they were dubious about this "sources" info, even after "months of negotiation"

It is either
A) people looking to cash in with forging intel material to sell to gullible Political Operatives and CIA
B) or it is Russia trying to sow division and stoke the US Intel vs. Trump division or
C) Russia trying to chum the waters with fake material to obfuscate any real intelligence that might surface

Or various combinations thereof.
