In protest I'm putting on a production of Hamilton but I'm changing the plot to where everyone is dying of AIDS and shares an apartment building.

Why does "esmerelda" have to be a girl?
Are there no qualified boys to play the role?
Were boys allowed to try out for the role?

You're right.

Clearly, cancelling this play was the right thing to do. There is just no way to fairly ensure that every role is played by an appropriate representative for the part.

In fact, I think acting should just be banned. The practice mocks the spirit of the characters who live inside each of us.

I'm now picturing "These Are a Few of My Favorite Things" and "The TIme Warp" producing some kind of "Hamilton" style love child.

It is ... magnificent.

Maybe the lead girl originally cast was "the epitome of whiteness" but self-identified as something different? Ins't that a thing now too? Then who would be the racists? (As if calling for someones removal from a postion as such based only on the skin / eye color does not count for racist either) .

Which one wins if I self-identify as something I do not appear to be ostensibly, am I culturally appropriating what I believe I am?

All and all pretty much the crying wolf story and as mentioned before in this post - losing the meaning each time

Oh wow thats racist. I played big Jule in "guys and dolls" in HS. Im 5'5' and slim.

It was funny as hell. We never saw each others race. IMO, thats the point of drama class. Everyone becomes something else so as to tell a story.

These kids ruined it for themselves. We had Cubans, Mexicans, Blacks, Whites, Asians, and everyone you could imagine singing and dancing to white greaser pop culture from the 50s. ("Grease")

What a shame. These kids experienced regressive racism.

Hunchback is a medical condition. It's cruel to name a play after someone on disability. They are protected by statutes.

Obviously a hater of the hearing-challenged.

Why bells?

Why do you want to exclude the hearing-impaired?

Racist!
