the true first encounter with the "grays" 1965 valensole france humanoid encounters

INTRODUCTION
as far as i know the following case kickstarted the unending reports of "grays"
CASE

On July 1, 1965, at about 5:45 in the morning, in the region of Valensole, Basses Alpes, France, farmer Maurice Masse was inspecting his field of lavender when he heard a whistling sound, then noticed an egg-shaped object with six thin legs and a central pedestal standing nearby. Masse later said the object was about the size of a small car, and he could see two seats inside an open doorway. At the same time, he also saw two “small boys,” humanoid-looking beings less than four feet tall, dressed in grayish-green one-piece coveralls. Masse reported that they appeared to be gathering handfuls of his lavender. He said they had large, hairless heads, smooth white skin, large slanted eyes, pointed chins and small mouths with no lips. Masse heard them makesoft gurgling sounds, as if communicating. When he approached, one of them pointed a small “tube” at Masse, which immediately immobilized him where he stood. He remained conscious, watching as they finished their task and then entered the egg-shaped object, which rose off the ground, moved quickly away, then suddenly disappeared a few moments later. Masse was left standing paralyzed in his field, but regained his mobility about fifteen minutes later.

an common misconception is that the first encounter with the grays was in the betty and barney hill abduction, in fact the valensole encounter not only happened earlier but also when first interviewed the couple said the "aliens" looked quite human only later distorting it into an gray image
also this report just like many showns the humanoid using what i call an "stasis" gun

I am having to go by memory here and may be a little off.I am
pretty sure the "grays" were mentioned way before the 1960's,
including the Hill abduction.I was sure the entities the Hill's
encountered were suppose to be from Zeta-Reticuli.Those
humanoids I don't think were the grays.
My personal opinion is that the grays are more robotic than
organic.Like we would place a robotic probe to explore places
a human couldn't go,the same principle can apply here.

I just looked up the Hill abduction and the story does talk about
little gray men.


Again,I had to look this up.Roswell,was one of the first times we were introduced to the grays!

I had not heard of this one before so thanks for posting it. As is so often the case, this encounter took place in a remote area in front of a single witness which means there is no corroboration. I did wonder if this was not a singular case of the ergotism poisoning from rye bread as in Point Saint Esprit some years earlier. As for the "aliens" taking handfuls of lavender, maybe they were suffering from the effects of insomnia brought on by the means and distance of travel.

Afaik the original description was "short guys with black hair and Jimmy Durante noses".

The became "grays" years later, after a hypnosis session.

Imho H. G. Wells invented "grays" (grey-skinned beings, 1 meter tall, with big heads and large, oval-shaped pitch black eyes) back in 1893 and used them in multiple stories.

most earlier mentions were backdates, ie people remenbering old memories
i am going with the ones that were reported near the date of the sighting

H.G wells was an interpretation of how the future humans would look like the appearence is just an coincidence

this is truly a golden oldie case. I have read about this sighting many times over the past many years. One of the biggest sightings of its time period I think.

You can't always trust old memories.I would be skeptical about any memories
where hypnosis is used into retrieving "lost time" in abduction cases. This field
is wide opened to possibly planting false memories into others.

I did use conditional phrasing when I posted..."was one of the first times
we were introduced to the grays". I didn't say the very first time.

I do have issues with any information that comes from an hypnosis session.

I really don't think Wells invented the grays.He could have used visions from
a nightmare.Poe would write about things he saw while suffering from D.T.'s
This is an area I am not familiar with and can't speak with any authority.

Hells bells, I experienced these child like sized dudes back in 1943 or thereabouts. More than onece they surrounded me in when laying on my little cot in this big boarding house. Scared the crap out of me, I could only see them by rolling my eyes around. They did hurt me by messing up my nose and leaving me with a nose bleed. I told no one of this as this was run by fundamental folks, very weird they would have been yelling demons and I would have been back out on the street.
