Evidence for russian hacks from unlikely source : Dutch intelligence

It seems that the technical evidence the FBI has for russian hacking attacks on the white house and dnc came from a dutch taksforce on cybercrime.

The operation started back in the summer of 2014 when a member of the taksforce gained access to a computersystem located in a university builing near the red square in moscow. At the time it was unkown that this location was also used by the russian hacker collective known as Cozy Bear or APT29. This group is known for attacking networks of government facillities and utillity and telecom companies across the world.

As it turned out, dutch intelligence was able to observe and collect evidence of the group performing hacks on several networks including those of the white house, state department and the dnc. This information was passed to the FBI, CIA and NSA by the dutch intelligence agency AIVD
They also managed to get access to an IP camera hanging outside the main entrance and where able to get screenshots of people exiting and entering the building during the attacks in order to try and identify possible suspects.

It takes many pieces to make a puzzle. The more pieces you can recognise, the less puzzling the puzzle appears to be. Copy-pasting some unverifiable information is rarely a good idea. Especially on ATS. It's nothing personal!
