Well according to the worlds life evolutionary clock humans did not make an appearance till 1 minute 17 seconds to midnight.
So according to those figures we have at least 43 seconds free time before we even appear never mind making an impact.
By the way if you turn the clock backwards we will regress to childhood, I think.

But with a “Doomsday Clock”,

It only be right one time.

There really won’t be any “day” left after that.

In moving the clock 30 seconds closer to the hour of the apocalypse, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists cited “the failure of President Trump and other world leaders to deal with looming threats of nuclear war and climate change.

Climate change ain't got SNIP to do with a nuclear holocaust.

What a bunch of SHILLS.

The wiki article listing the changes to the clock are very telling.

1. In 1962 there was no change due to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
2. Where is the reaction to other major flare ups? Take a look at this list - metro.co.uk...

Its just theater.

Well trump wants to increase America's nuclear arsenal.

That's a good signal to the rest of the world that every other country needs it's own nukes.

After all they are a deterrent, right?

The only way to be safe from the west is to have a deterrent.

Sad times.

Paradoxically, that is what North Korea is claiming as the reason for its nuclear weapons program; deterrence against US aggression.

And yet, the result places the world at even greater risk of nuclear war.

I’ve read that new developments in the US tactical nuclear arsenal are encouraging some in the military and the administration to believe that a limited nuclear strike against NK’s nuclear infrastructure could be accomplished with only few hundred killed, all deaths limited to NK, and little chance that the conflict would escalate to South Korea, or beyond.

Sheer hubris.

And hubris, which is just another name for Pride, as the saying goes,

Cometh before a fall.

It's WaPo, what did you expect? lol

I only used them as the source because of the actual substance of the article (the facts of the matter), not their editorial drivel

I guess those folks missed the news where north korea actually said something about unification?

we're watching the slow and steady exposure of the deep state. We'll never get the whole thing, but this is a start.

hopefully soon the US government will be in control of itself again.

A few more years of this and that clock should be turned back half an hour. ...
... but it never will be. The fed is in bed with the deep state and they'll pull the plug on the whole thing before they lose control.

As Carl Sagan pointed out, one of the effects of a nuclear war would likely be a “Nuclear Winter”, resulting from the dust, ash, and debris from burning cities and fields.

The result, as can be measured following large volcanic eruptions, is a diminishing amount of sunlight and concurrent cooling of average temperatures for extended periods of time.

In this aspect, your assertion, that “Climate change ain’t got nothing to do with nuclear holocaust”, is incorrect.

Nuclear holocaust, by itself, could be a singular instigator of climate change; perhaps not resulting from the general warming of the climate, which is the current concern, but from its opposite.

Either form would prove equally deadly.

Cher knows.

Why anyone pays attention to the "Doomsday Clock" is beyond me.

Wait, no it's not--we are a people who are addicted to hyperbole and unsubstantiated predictions...

Get ready to skink through the end of the world with Fishbone!

Funny how the 80's had a bunch of doom songs, Two Suns in the Sunset, Seconds, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Party at Ground Zero, Russians, etc., but nothing happened. Now, the 80's are behind us, and now we're back where we started! Here we go around again...

A clock that never reaches midnight. What kind of clock is that? There are some pretty brilliant scientists, and a broken clock is the only metaphor they could come up with?

No, they should have used a barometer, something that accurately depicts what they are trying to measure: the pressure of fear growing in the scientist's head.

I love people that constantly predict war, which is itself pretty much a constant throughout human history. Your powers of prophecy are truly astounding. Can you please tell me whether the sun will be coming up tomorrow?
