The last payroll had already been processed. The shutdown occured over a 3 day period when 2 of those days were not even business days.

Prison guards, VA employees...lots of folks were on the list of "not gonna get paid".

You see if the dreamers are to succeed they have to compromise. Give the lunatic Trump his goddam wall.

It's not only Trumps wall. It is wanted by the people, like me, who voted for him also.

Most people who live around there I believe don’t want the wall

Most Texans do not want Trump's border wall

LINK

(Mic) — President Donald Trump will have to mess with Texas if he wants to build his "big, beautiful" wall. According to a new poll from the nonpartisan Texas Lyceum, residents of the Lone Star State overwhelmingly oppose Trump's planned border wall and support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. Of 1,000 Texans surveyed, 90% support a path to citizenship, while 61% oppose the proposed wall and 58% disapprove of the way the president has handled immigration overall.

The democrats are lucky they got out of this mess early enough that it wont affect them in 2018 unless they do the same stupid thing on the 8th.

If they want to blow their edge then so be it.

They were creaming the GOP in every special election.

They will be dam fools if they blow this over this issue.

The GOP will rule for decades if they pull this stunt again and the dreamers will be out.

They should not go for a quick fix with militant activism which will turn the people against them

I saw a segment on ABC News Nightline last night describing how one County in Texas voted 95% for Donald Trump. The highest percentage of any County in the nation.

What do you want me to say, it’s not my poll. They can support him but not the wall at he same time. Texas is a deep red state even if the GOP candidate is a communist they’ll still vote for him or one of nefarious character as Trump

2012 - 93% to 6% African American Vote
2016 - 88% to 8% African American Vote

This to me was striking in 2016. All that racist talk and talk of unity in the DNC and the DNC lost 5% and the RNC gained 2%. Keep those tax cuts coming and jobs and that will grow in 2020.

Hispanic Whites also left the DNC and more voted RNC even after all of the wall talk.

YUP! I am one of them.
Except I left DNC when voting for Ron Paul. I will NEVER consider going left now that I can finally see thru their bullsh*t.

China built a wall in the 7th century. Lot of good it did them. This is the 21th century. Employing 1400 year old tactics in the modern world "will not work". They can come by tunnels, by sea, hell they can even transport drugs via drones.

I am not fully in favor of D.A.C.A. I think they should apply for citizenship and take the exam. That should have been part of the program from day one. But to use these two issues as a reason to shut down our government is the most assinine thing ever.

Trump is jealous, because China built the world's biggest and longest wall.

So, he want's to build a big beautiful wall in America, to compete.

But, China built that wall in an age when wall's mattered. People moved about on foot, or on horse back.

Today, people can fly over any such wall in private "drones" with the same ease they walked the land long ago.

So, the wall is an outdated shield to human traffic, that is no where near as effective as that China Wall was when it was built.

The only thing a Wall does today, is make the statement "this is my land, and that is yours". It's nothing but a "marker", like neighbors put up in their residential neighborhoods. But, it can't stop people who intend to walk on your grass from doing so.

What?

I don't think you understand how drones work.

You try to have a drone fly you somewhere

Maybe they just forgot how to come up with a strategy that actually works. Or maybe it is that they are to busy making fun of President Trump and not taking him seriously. There has never been another President that has made their opposing party so weak. If President Trump keeps helping the U.S. financially the way he has been doing, they may repeal the 22 Amendment. Even Starbucks is investing a lot of their tax cut money back into their employees. I believe President Trump talked about how the tax cut would affect the working class. It seems as if President Trump is, a lot of times, 3 steps ahead in strategy.

But do we not look back at such a feat in awe and think of the achievement that has made the Great Wall one of the Great Wonders of the World? People have lost their sense of accomplishment as a people, who desire no more to build great monuments that can stand that test of time, as a witness to history.

What rock do you live under?

“This statistic reportedly has been confirmed by DHS, but the Obama administration refuses to release that information,” Sessions said. “Using that rate as a baseline, that means approximately 408,870 illegal aliens evaded detection, for a grand total of roughly 817,740 illegal entries into the United States last year.”

That's for 2016. That's almost one million illegals trying to cross the border in a single calendar year.

And why do you hate poor people? They'll have a much tougher time finding work with almost a million illegals every year coming in as competition in the work force.

Until one side or the other stops with political posturing, no one gets to claim the high ground.

How can either side stop posturing?

The minute one side decides to cave in to the other side, they may as well pack their bags and go home.

Because there's no need to have a party present in the chambers that is unable to contribute anything to the decisions.

So, to justify their jobs, each side must distinguish itself by proposing and voting for something different.

They are there to disagree. To challenge the other party's ideas. To propose "better" ideas. Which actually turns out to be just "different" ideas, because it's hard to determine if something is "better" until it's actually implemented and we see the effects.

But adding "births" and subtracting "deaths" we find that America is losing 500,000 people every year, so it needs at least that many immigrants to just make up the same population, and needs extra immigrants if it wants the population to grow.

Trump isn't going to blink, shutting down the government to push illegal immigration and pander to illegals and destroy the economy is just a stupid idea that will backfire.

Might want to go back and read your own material before attempting to speak for the entire population of the state of Texas. We've got quite a few more than just one thousand people living here...which according to your source, was the exact number of Texans who were actually polled. That is not "most Texans". That is a tiny handful of Texans.

Just try to keep it honest. I'm sure you simply overlooked that little detail by accident before you made your blanket statement about an entire state.😉
