In light of recent developments, Trump should definitely refuse any hypothetical Mueller interview

That is correct. In the next few weeks says Mueller. But we do not know if it will be in person or via written question and answers.

Yes. Miranda rights are if you're under arrest. Right now Mueller just wants to have a conversation. Lol.

You could not be more wrong. You always have those rights. Police officers only are obliged to TELL you when under arrest and asking incriminating questions.

So, don't interview him because he has nothing to hide?

What do you think the American people are going to say about that? If trump refuses to talk to Mueller what will people think? What will the rest of the hill say about it if he does?
They are saying Mueller wants this interview within weeks.

Most people will continue thinking the same thing they do today, either way. So who cares? It's Mueller's job to dig. He'd be stupid not to ask. It's not Trump's job to help him. He'd be stupid to submit to interview without conditions.

The story says he wants to talk to him. Not be pen pals with him. Written questions was never going to happen. It was a pipe dream of trumps lawyer.

They don't read you the Miranda rights unless you're under arrest.
Yes you always have the right to not talk and the law has the right to subpoena you. And you can refuse and they can lock you up for contempt. Or you go and answer the questions and if you need to you invoke the fifth amendment which is not the Miranda rights. So I guess you guys feel that if trump talks he will incriminate himself.

Tee hee..right.. I see the dilemma.

Who cares? I imagine a lot of people care. Jesus really? How about every republican lawmaker ? Do you think they care? Do you think they will care when their constituents start demanding they get answers? Will they care next November?

This should get interesting.

Gee if Trump is so innocent why be concerned with a simple interview, unless you're guilty.

A Miranda warning is warning or informing you of your 5th and 6th amendment rights...
Under subpoena issued for testimony to a grand jury, his lawyer will counsel him not to answer questions because answering one in testimony would end his right to remain silent. So, no. It's not just because he is guilty. It's that he can't be compelled to testify in matters that might tend to incriminate him. Since the investigation is into his alleged crimes, those answers will tend to incriminate him.
Noone will change their mind based son his refusal to cooperate.
For the record, I think he wants to cooperate because he thinks he is innocent and/or the smartest guy in the room. I think that makes him an idiot. He might agree to submit to an interview in the same manner and conditions that HRC and staff did, but I don't think Mueller wants that.

If you're ever accused of a crime, for your own sake, I hope you listen to a lawyer and not that ageless maxim.

Uh, no. When has he done that so far in the investigation. One thing they are trained on for sure is body language.

He would want to have him there in person, and he would damn well record it, so Trump couldn't change his story! He does that allot.

Remember, after Trump met with Putin, he said he believed him, and the Russians did not meddle in the election, despite being told by our Intel, they did.

After backlash, he changed his story! Of coarse, you can't tell some people that on ATS, even though it's the truth, and there is source after source to back it up!

Their concern, rightly, is that he is a compulsive !iar. He can't help it.

He's not being asked to answer questions from a grand jury. You'd rather that because that would mean trump isn't a target. But he's not offering that. No Mueller wants to question him not as a witness like he did Bannon or even Comey but as a person of interest.

He can invoke the fifth. He probably should... He's probably guilty of obstruction of justice.

Is Trump charged with a crime?

If not, Mueller can pound sand.

Who the hell listens to a subpoena these days?

So why in the world would you think Trump does not have a 5th amendment privileges?
