any come to mind.

off the top of my head for me i say Glengarry Glen Ross.

that is one of my top 10 films of all time and usually considered a great film with one of the greatest casts ever assembled. based off a play.

i bring this up because while i love it my wife absolutely hates it. i usually watch it once a year or so and last night was that night. she will not even sit in the room with me because she hates it so much.
i dont understand it because it is a #ing amazing film.
heavy on the dialogue. no sex. no explosions. no action scenes.
the biggest part of the budget came in for the effects of rain. lots of scenes with rain.

cool ass jazz soundtrack.

what are some that come to mind?

start this scene at 2 minutes for a taste

ALWAYS BE CLOSING

www.imdb.com...

The real story behind the world of sales. This is a realistic portrayal of what it is to try making a life in high pressure sales with all its highs and lows; promises of fortunes and deliveries of dross. Red-leads and dead-leads are to blame for life's outcomes. Living with "Objection, Rebuttal, Close".

Last week I bought Citizen Kane.
Now, I've seen bits of it or its been on while I've been in the room but doing other things or just distracted. So I may have to return at a later date to let you know but that's considered to be one of the all time greats. I just don't know.

I prefer weird stuff anyway. Eraserhead is brilliant but I've not met many who agree with that.

There are a decent number of Oscar winners that fall in that category.

Cutthroat Island. Widely considered a flop, but the best pirate movie of all time. Gina Davis, what more could you want? Surely not Pirates of the Caribbean! Yeah, Depp is funny, but without him the story is just stupid. My favorite line?

Bad dog!

Mary Poppins. I had to watch that when I was a kid and hated it. One of the worst movies of all time.

I liked it, maybe it has to do with people's visionary expectations of the future and what survival may look like.

I reckon 2001 Space odyssey probably fits the description. Considered a classic by many (including me), but I know a fair few folk that think its incredibly boring. Go figure!

That movie also has the Dread Pirate Roberts in it! It gets my vote!

Well, I saw it when it first came out and never watched it again, so, yes, boring.

My movie came from a galaxy far, far away...

I can't believe people hate Star Wars because many of their favorite movies would not be possible if it wasn't for George Lucas-Industrial Light and Magic, THX, the dude changed the game. What was believed to be a flop turned out to be one of the biggest franchises in movie history.

I have always love The Replacements.

Shane Falco: I wish I could say something classy and inspirational, but that just wouldn't be our style.

Shane Falco: Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory... lasts forever.

Yep, my folks have pretty much the same opinion, and they also went to the cinema to see it when it first came out.

I guess each to their own, horses for courses, yada yada.

Still fits the OP's title request though.

Prometheus to me is a great movie. Same with alien: covenant.

People seem to hate things they don’t understand.

Not really, hate is such a strong word/emotion. I don't hate it, and if some time in the future I feel like sitting back and judging AI (Hal), I might do it.

Highly entertaining and way underrated.

I would interject that Willow may be appealing to those with imagination, a fantasy-quest and fairy tale desire. Others may not get it.
