Let’s see what the republicans do with 800,000. Mass deportations or pass DACA.

Hmmm, who do think can go without funding longer?

All those poor SCHIP kids who have no more funding for their program as of last night ... or the DACA kids who have funding until March?

Why are the Democrats making this an issue because they're going to lose badly. Children will be dying in the streets while DACA stays funded for two more months.

Put your money where your mouth is. Go out and apply and personally sponsor one of these DACA. Guarantee they will have insurance and a place to live. Not all of them are in stable situations. Laws are laws and Trump is not the Third Reich. Your Obama is the incarnation of Stalin. He is a Communist plain and simple. You want a socialist government find one and move there. To many lives have been lost in 200 plus years protecting this Constitutional Republic to be protecting your hind end. Venezuela sound like a good place. If you want I will personally buy your ticket. One way ticket.

I don't think anyone is talking deportation here. Trump even said "lets deal" long before this shutdown and the Dems do not want to deal. I feel they see a shut down is to their advantage so they pushed it with DACA. Shutdown is just a political grandstanding anyways.

The republicans didn’t care when chip expired in sept. The republicans can fund chip any time they want.

So can Demcorats, so why make a stand over a bunch of people who aren't even American citizens?

If you think it's because they care so very much for those people, you are painfully naive.

It was the Durbin graham bipartisan plan. That’s why they were at that meeting with trump. The s hole meeting.

The republicans have all the power. It’s time to stop kicking the budget down the road. That’s their main job, no more cr’s .

Even Vox admits it was a left of center deal, so it was most certainly going to be DOA. Stop acting as if it had any kind of chance.

The only reason Democrats want DACA off the table is because they know their position on immigration is substantially weakened if it goes on the table as part of the immigration reform talks.

They know most Republicans are more than willing to give on DACA, but *just* to the DACA kids themselves and not to their parents and relatives out to the second and third degree. And the Democrats need chain migration in any deal they get. If they try to walk away from immigration talks while DACA is involved, the Republicans simply come back with DACA as part of the deal and force the Democrats to choose between all-or-nothing base (like you) or cutting off the DACA kids.

That's why they want DACA off the table.

Too bad most people don't want a shutdown and *really* don't want it over DACA because those don't sympathize with DACA kids before American interests.

Takes 60 votes in the Senate to override filibuster.

Funny story, they didn't have to do that with the tax reform legislation.

Also, there actually has to be a filibuster for that to matter. They were voting for cloture, which limits the time for debate (and thus precludes a filibuster).

They could always remove the filibuster - they have a majority in the Senate.

Why would they remove the filibuster?

Look what happened because Reid removed the need for more than a simple majority for Congressional appointments. You guys whined and whined when it came back to bite you in the butt.

That rule is there for a reason, and while it may serve short-term purposes to remove it, long-term the pendulum swings, and it's there to protect the minority party. Be careful what you think you are wishing for.

What 'you guys' are you talking about?

See, this is the problem. People like you do this whole identity politics thing. Either someone's with you and must be of your party, or they're against you and must be of the opposing party.

Got some news for ya, I ain't a Democrat.

You didn't, however, address the whole tax reform passing without 60 votes matter. McConnell is playing you.

Democrats could not get themselves out of the rain much less solve budget problems. How can you solve budget problems when you buy votes by spending HARD WORKING AMERICANS MONEY ON ILLEGALS. Again vote buying. You sad little utopian fool. Study the laws of nature.
