Truly fascinatingly beautiful!

This is an illustrated logarithmic scale conception of the observable Universe with the Solar System at the centre. Encircling the Solar System are the inner and outer planets, Kuiper belt, Oort cloud, Alpha Centauri star, Perseus Arm, Milky Way galaxy, Andromeda galaxy, other nearby galaxies, the cosmic web, cosmic microwave radiation, and invisible plasma produced by the Big Bang at the very edges.

It reminds me of the Men in Black movie with Will Smith how at the end of the movie the camera zooms wayyyy out and eventually shows a galaxy sitting within a marble, and a gigantic alien playing marbles (each of which has a galaxy sitting within it) with another alien.

Awesome image, thanks for sharing

I'm confused, does this image show our sun at the middle?

Nevermind, still confused, but read it a few more times. Still seems odd.

I think that's what they intended, but then it shouldn't show uniform expansion and the edges coming from the center(our solar system).

I think it's just that it's more art than actual science.

I wonder what the white outside the universe is made of, and why its white and what illuminates it

Sure. If you travel in any direction from our sun, every part of the outside edge of the universe is equidistant. That pretty much makes us right at the center.

It's God, and he's self-illuminating.

I know its early in the year, but I am putting my money on this being thread of the year, forget US politics for A while and just remember how small we all really are, then realise how lucky we all are for being here - right now (wherever and whoever you are with)

BUT will this now become the "Flat Universe" map of the future

Certainly makes for a difficult "Wheres Wally" game though

Wow, the universe is a giant eyeball!

I wonder what it's looking at?

Every point in space is equidistant from the edge of the universe, it is also equidistant from the center...

Not what it is looking at... what it is looking... "for"!

Prisoner Zero will vacate the human residence or the human residence will be incinerated.

Last time that sort of thing was measured
we were the center of the Universe.

The white is just a non transparency. ATS doesn't allow a PNG as an image file and I'm not home to be able to convert it over to where it melds with your ATS background. It's just blank space. White doesn't exist
