Just by the tittle and the start of the story i smell propaganda.

Trumps revenge lol.

Fear is rising, trump won because a majority of americans did not care ahout voting for trump or hillary, but dont let that stop you from posting cheerleading news.

Trumps revenge sounds like a bad 70s porn movie.

So upholding the law is revenge? Who knew?

Do you realise how silly that sounds?

What does a census and following the law have in common lol.

Nothing

If you are discussing illegals, quite a lot actually.

A census has zero to do about voting, so again could you point out how you figured out that illegals will he able to vote for the democrats.

You do understand that census numbers are used when calculating seats in the House of Representatives, right?

I mean, if you don't then you have no business discussing matters which are clearly not understood.

Who said this issue has to do with illegals voting?

The point is that by counting illegals on the census and not asking their citizenship, democrats in California are able to get an extra seat that comes at another states expense.

Aren't "representatives" there to represent American citizens?

Should American taxpayers have to pay billions to "sanctuary states" that otherwise would not be necessary if not for the millions of ILLEGAL immigrants in those states?

Its like trying to explain calculus to a 5 yr old with a learning disability - there’s no point.

Where do you find the patience?

It's a census.

Are you a citizen?

Ummm sure.

Not like they are going to ask for papers to prove it.

Why is it important? it's only going to result in all the figures being wrong. No one will even open the damn door now. It's not going to make the Mexicans move.
America is never going back to being a white nation. If it ever was. Get used to it.

Calling it racism is a blatant lie.

My wife is latina, and was in Texas before Texas was a thing. Her family shed their native identities when Quanah Parker made peace. My wife doesn't want illegal aliens being allowed in the country either, and she is as brown as it gets.

Her sister (who lives in Colorado) voted for Trump. And is going to vote for Trump again.

It isn't race. And you guys continuing to beat that drum is only driving us moderates/independants further and further away. I don't support Trump....i oppose NeverTrump.

LOL!!!!!!!!!! if this doesn't say it all, I don't known what does.

Laws are deterrents, and should be ignored to make way for "feels".

It was never the law.

Trump won't be able to run in 2020. He'll be in jail making deals with license plates. LOL

Good point, though in the end it does not seem to matter.

Whether someone is a legal or illegal citizen is irrelevant to the census and it's usage in deciding how many seats are given to each state.

The number of seats apportioned are dependent upon population and does not take in to account the citizenship status of the people with the population.

It boggles the mind that anyone would argue to allow foreign nationals to subvert our electoral process by claiming a right to vote, while out of the other side of their mouth jumping wildly and screaming "COLLUSION" while pointing at Trump.

That doesn't stop people from fearing the repercussions of being found here illegally.

True, which leads full circle back to what the OP's source discusses. Including a question about citizenship status serves no purpose in regards to the census count and the representation allotted based on population.

It only seems to serve as a potential scare tactic, hoping illegals will opt not to take part in the census, or downplay their household resident numbers, so that they do not raise potential red flags.

Slight side issue but is it mandatory and enforced to do the census in the US?

I'm in the UK and have always just ignored it, as I will the next one in 2021.

Sad part is people like him vote. Half the country has no grasp of basic issues like this which is why it is so hard for conservatives to debate issues when one side doesn't even have a rudimentary understanding.

Dems worried census now asking about citizenship will cost Cali seat and money

To put this succinctly.

Dems are whining about doing WORSE than what they have accused Trump of.

The LEFT wants foreign influence dictating domestic issues.

"Fear is rising among Democrats over the prospect that President Donald Trump’s hard line on immigration might ultimately cost California a seat in Congress during the upcoming round of reapportionment. "

Well, lets be honest- they should be afraid.
They never should have had that seat in the first place, and by encouraging non citizens to complete the census, their state is getting more representation per citizen than other states- which simply isn't fair.

I don't like california influencing policy more than my home state any more than I like the big city in my home state influencing policy more than my home town.

Since when am I less than a full citizen?
Why are we letting this go on?

I hope the latest push to break cali into two different states gets a lot of traction. I know it won't ever go anywhere, but I'd really like to see a good effort so show the big cities in california that they might be in charge now, but their corrupt politicians won't run the place forever. The landowners are pushing back.

Including illegal aliens in the reapportionment base causes disparity in voting power and representation between citizens of different Congressional districts. This disparity violates the basic principles of one person, one vote and equal representation announced by the Supreme Court in the reapportionment cases.

The Constitution does not require that illegal aliens be included in the reapportionment base. Exclusion would not affect their representation under either the trustee or delegate models of representation, or under the constructive representation theory. Congress has the power to exclude illegal aliens from the reapportionment base, and should begin to take steps in this direction.

The Exclusion of Illegal Aliens from the Reapportionment Base: A Question of Representation(direct .pdf link)

So it's ok to disenfranchise citizens by including illegal aliens in the apportionment of representatives?
