The war in Vietnam is but a symptom of a far deeper malady within the American spirit, and if we ignore this sobering reality...and if we ignore this sobering reality, we will find ourselves organizing "clergy and laymen concerned" committees for the next generation. They will be concerned about Guatemala -- Guatemala and Peru. They will be concerned about Thailand and Cambodia. They will be concerned about Mozambique and South Africa. We will be marching for these and a dozen other names and attending rallies without end, unless there is a significant and profound change in American life and policy. And so, such thoughts take us beyond Vietnam, but not beyond our calling as sons of the living God. (MLK, 1967 speech)

Today on the 50th commemorative anniversary on MLK's birthday of his assassination 'conspired by governmental agencies' per Civil Court verdict by Jury in Unison (see www.justice.gov...), i for one find it the perfect occasion if wasn't any sooner, to reflect on MLK's profound message above.

What a visionary MLK truly was to begin his message with BEYOND Vietnam despite it being delivered when US was still bombs deep into its war on Vietnam (and on Cambodia and Laos). Indeed, we have since his silencing, been marching for these and a dozen other countries' plight since without end, as there is yet to be significant halt on perpetual warmongering nor change in America's ignorance/indifference of its global actions 50 yrs later.

1) The US got involved in Vietnam at the urging of the UN after the British and French respective defeat there by the Communists backed by Russia

2) MLK was speaking out on using our own (US Citizen's) merits and justifications for actions instead of bending to other's will.

Got it ?
