Tucker Carlson on Schools Banning Best Friends

Tucker recently just did an interview with a psychotherapist who was trying to promote the idea that kids having best friends is "exclusionary" and may cause some kids to feel left out, so the best way to deal with this is to ban best friends and encourage kids to have a large group of friends. Tucker makes some very good points to counter her insane arguments, pointing out that marriage could also be considered highly exclusionary but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing.


Even the psychotherapist admits that kids who have best friends grow up to be more mentally stable and have lower levels of anxiety than those who don't. Yet she still tries to claim this is the best thing to do because it will protect kids from feeling left out. Although this is a recent interview from Tucker, this is not at all a new issue and I actually recall seeing a thread on this subject back in 2012 when we learned that some schools in the UK had already implemented the rule banning kids from having best friends.

This really cuts down to the core reason why I oppose thin skinned SJW's who think we need to protect everyone from feeling any negative emotions. As if we can achieve utopia if we just start being super fake and nice to each other. They actually seem to think that encouraging "pack" or "herd" behavior in children is a good thing, they want to strip them of all individuality and rob them of the chance to form meaningful relationships. Kids often need a close friends that they can trust and confide in, and they will choose best friends whether teachers want them to or not.

Some socialists seem to have absolutely no respect for individuality or personal liberty, they think we should all just hold hands and sing songs in order to solve the worlds problems, if we just come together as one united group and all do our part everything will work smoothly. It's like organized religion in a way, they encourage a group mentality and suppress individual out-of-the-box thinking because they desire conformity. It's highly ironic really, because they claim to be so progressive but cannot see how they are encouraging oppressive systems of government which have no respect for individuals.

The greatest achievers in history are almost always abnormal and quirky people who don't quite fit into the mold of normal society, by encouraging kids to operate with a socialist group mentality we will have less out-of-the-box thinkers and more of the same old thing. That's why communism, an extreme form of socialism, typically produces towns and cities where all the buildings look the same, there is no individuality or human spirit in those systems. Everyone behaves the same, looks the same, thinks the same way, has the same fake smile, has the same pitiful level of wealth, etc.

At the core of it that's probably what annoys me most about these far left socialists, they deny reality at the most fundamental level because they are too mentally weak to handle it, and they try to build up a reality where we no longer have to deal with the harsh truths of our mortal existence. But it's not healthy, it is a lie and when you finally do get smacked in the face by reality the shock will be very extreme if you tried to live your life inside of a safe space. The second episode of the new season of Black Mirror does a great job of showing how being overprotective of children can backfire terribly.

The way you make the crazy lady on his show to go away is to ignore her. Don't give her airtime.

Exactly what I was going to post. Bring out the stupidest member of whatever group you are wanting to denigrate and let them do your job for you. Like when a left-leaning pundit carts out Alex Jones for instance.

I'm aware of what socialism is and there is a connection whether you see it or not, although I should make it clear I'm not saying socialist policies are always bad or not necessary; modern society clearly operates with a lot of socialist programs and they can be good for society. That is why I gave the more extreme example of communism and what happens when you take socialist ideals too far.

Socialism is all about placing the "good of society" above the good of the individual, and encouraging group mentalities is exactly what happens in all heavily socialist societies because they simply couldn't operate otherwise. Capitalism promotes a more individualist approach and encourages us to express ourselves, but not everyone wins in such a system and so it's often seen as "exclusionary".

Another great example of how socialist policies often violate individual liberty is when the government tries to tell us what to eat, they try to use things like sugar taxes to socially engineer the population and force them to live a certain way for the "greater good". It's a herd mentality once again where we all need to conform to the rules of the system to create this false and fake utopia that can never exist.

Since time immorial, kids have failed to get along with other kids and have also formed close friendships with others that have endured for decades.

To say somthing like this is to advcate for something that the person concerned knows full well is a load of crap.

If this bloke reckons this let him demonstrate leadeship on it and make it very public.

Well if you bothered to read my thread properly you'd see a posted a link from 2012 where we discussed how some schools were already implementing these ideas. This isn't just the rambling of some crazy lady, this is a real thing which has actually been put into place many years ago and it's worth discussing now that more people seem to be taking it seriously.

Exactly... it's about creating a collective which all think the same way. Excessive socialism promotes collectivism and a herd mentality, and it's not healthy even if it seems like a good thing. In fact this is one of the main reasons I don't use Facebook, I feel it encourages a sort of mindset where we're all just a collection of faces in a book and if we don't have at least 100 friends in our friend list then we just aren't cool. It's all fake, your friends are fake, it's all just an attempt to make ourselves feel socially accepted in a peer group... still not seeing any relevance here Hazardous1408?

Well I tend to view Socialism as slightly more than that, it's also a set of ideological principals upon which those economic theories are based, and it takes a certain type of mindset to agree with those ideologies. The same thing applies to Capitalism.

It's from 2012, the link is obviously broken and probably just redirects to a random story. Just look at the responses in that thread, it was a real article and if I could be bothered I would go find a copy of the article but you'd probably still think it was fake news anyway.
