This is a silly question but I'm unfamiliar with the US legal system

Could the porn actress have extorted Trump saying that she'd lie about them meeting causing a huge scandal. Mud sticks, it would have lost the election. Taking her to court and sueing for slander wouldnt exhonerate him in many peoples minds

She's a hottie, Trump support goes up with a fake gossip story like this so the Left Fails yet again. It's like the JFK/Monroe effect. Can't wait to see their next boomerang disaster the Left desperately flings at the wall.

The Left turns to sleaze, Hollyweird gets purged soiling their stage for hysterics.
The Left cries Russia, Uranium One shows the Left was doing treasonous business with Russia.
The Teflon Don keeps rolling on.

Interesting that the Republican plan works so well, with such little effort. Oprah's thinking, "No way!"

NORMALLY this kind of thing would be a "career ender"... BUT, no one is going to change their opinion of Trump over this...

A lawyer for President Donald Trump arranged a $130,000 payment to a former adult-film star a month before the 2016 election as part of an agreement that precluded her from publicly discussing an alleged sexual encounter with Mr. Trump, according to people familiar with the matter.

Michael Cohen, who spent nearly a decade as a top attorney at the Trump Organization, arranged payment to the woman, Stephanie Clifford, in October 2016 after her lawyer negotiated the nondisclosure agreement with Mr. Cohen, these people said.

I WONDER if it will come out that the $130,000 was PAID from Trump's "charity"? We KNOW he's used it for funding legal expenses before. And this WAS a month before the election, after all...

It's appears to be VERY "hush-hush" too...

The payment was made to Ms. Clifford through her lawyer in the matter, Keith Davidson, with funds sent to Mr. Davidson’s client-trust account at City National Bank in Los Angeles, according to the people.

“I previously represented Ms. Daniels,” Mr. Davidson said, referring to Ms. Clifford’s stage name. “Attorney-client privilege prohibits me from commenting on my clients’ legal matters.”

A spokeswoman for City National Bank declined to comment.

Trumps lawyer is firing back though!

Mr. Cohen added in the statement, addressed to The Wall Street Journal: “This is now the second time that you are raising outlandish allegations against my client. You have attempted to perpetuate this false narrative for over a year; a narrative that has been consistently denied by all parties since at least 2011.”

WSJ

I find it a bit odd that a "high power attorney" like Cohen HASN'T filed a libel lawsuit then....?

HMMMM?

It MUST be a conspiracy, with Murdoch's WSJ in on the act! Murdoch could have killed this WSJ story..but DIDN'T...why?

While obviously this is unethical if during marriage, I really don't care about politicians sex lives as long as it's consensual, not an abuse of power in some way, not harassment, pedophilia, or sexual assault, etc.

No.

Larry Sinclair's claims and the retaliation he faced didn't end Obama's and Biden's careers and that was a far more egregious tale involving several gross abuses of power, position, and government. Not to mention the hypocrisy of it all, given they were running on an anti-same sex marriage ticket, at the time.

I mean,
they can't find an upstanding citizen with class to come forward? Gotta scrape the bottom of the barrel to bring the 'juiciest' distraction?

Meanwhile I'm curious of Melania's position. My searches say Melania's got nothing to say about Donald cheating.

I wonder if Barron reads the internet?

Real class.

Also..

ABC News and the Baily Beast have both said that they had "Stormy Daniels" scheduled to discuss Trump a month before the election, but she backed out of the interviews suddenly.

Trump is no JFK and "Stormie Daniels" is no Marlyn Monroe.

I commented because some are so blind to the possibility its true, a denial means nothing if you account for an NDA

She would make a lot more exposing this scandal than sticking to the NDA. An NDA cannot exceed written law, so depending on where it was written it would be limited to the local laws. You will not find a law on any book that would keep this woman from making millions by exposing her story.

???

The NDA could both include a payout of 130k and a penalty for disclosure of millions, could it not?

The thing is that WSJ was pretty specific, right down to the names of the lawyers, multiple sources, the bank the money was given to and the trust the money was placed in.

The lawyer that received the pat-off has not denied it, but rather cited attorney-client privilege.

A porn star and Trumps junk yard lawyer aren't credible IMO.

Has Trump tweeted a denial yet?

Why not? The OP wrote that "normally this would end careers." I responded to that with "no" and gave a good example.

***

This 'whataboutism' ad hominem is debilitating to critical thinking skills.

The OP actually started out the entire thread with 'WHATABOUTISM' and there is something wrong with me responding to that?

Geez.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but seems to put a damper on this propaganda, unless this is proven to be fake.

Obama did far worse to silence the men he had sexual relationships with.

The Dimocrats must really be in trouble with all the distractions they have been fabricating lately.

Far worse? So are you admitting Trump actually did pay off this woman, but you just think Obama did worse things?.

The Dimocrats must really be in trouble with all the distractions they have been fabricating lately.

What I find troubling is how much grown men know about the sexual adventures of other men.

Apparently you know enough about Obama's adventures to say it was worse than what Trump may have done.

That's just...creepy.

I think offering/accepting hush money is ok if all we are talking about is consensual sex. It's none of my business what two consenting adults do.

And I also think what happened to Larry Sinclair is the most egregious and blatant abuse of power and violation of Constitutional protections that I have ever heard of from a presidential candidate.

From Larry's story comes Donald Young's story, too. He was a choir director at Obama's church in Chicago. He was alleged, by Larry, to have had an affair with Obama and he claims to have been in contact with him. (None of this can be proven with any evidence.)

But these are the allegations.

Donald Young opened his front door in December 2007 and was executed with a bullet to the head. His murder remains unsolved. Larry Sinclair AND Donald Young's mother both seem to believe Obama had something to do with his murder.

No, the WSJ, NYT, WaPO did not write stories on this. But you better believe they would report allegations like this about Trump.

That is what bothers me. Not in Trump's defense but because it absolutely disgusts me how the media manipulates the people. If the WSJ, NYT, WaPO reported this stuff about Obama...I mean, can you imagine?

People may have decided for THEMSELVES if Larry's claims were credible like they do with all the claims about Trump. *gasp*

Is that so objectionable?

imo, the type who supports trump come hell or high water would just double down on how awesome this makes trump, how trump is the man!!!

I don't watch CNN. In fact, I don't watch TV at all. I rarely read their news site anymore.

Why do you and why are you concerned about what grown men do in their bedrooms?
