Doubt it would be anywhere close to the amount lost when MSM caused a 350 point drop in stock market due to fake news reports.

But either way they aren't telling anyone who to believe...they are pointing out false news accounts. I'd say that's the duty of the news organizations but they obviously don't do that.

By calling it false they are implying there is certain news that should and shouldn't be listened to. This isn't just anybody saying this, this is the leader of a government. The government is deciding what's real and what's fake. Sounds like some good old fashioned Soviet or Nazi style propaganda to me. Especially wrapping it up in a nice easily digestible, memorable 'award show' for the masses.

I think the original tweet was a joke/attempt at humor and a way to poke at his political/media enemies.

I think it got a lot of traction and he decided to go ahead and actually do it.

I'm not going to spend time reading 40+ pages to find the nugget of truth you're claiming is in there, if you can't even seem to find it. It's your thread, you know where it is better than I do.

Trumps been around for a year. Are you suggesting he has more sway than MSM has had in the last 100 years.

Trouble is you have to have someone that has a large bullhorn to get a message across when you aren't holding your own people accountable for stories that may carry more than just the actual news.

This isn't anyone saying dontbwatch it or you can't watch it...it is someone calling out which ones report the facts without political motivation or agenda.....personally I believe it is a needed action as it appears most of the populace these days are prone to just regurgitating what they hear versus actually digging to see if true.

That's hardly an indication of how many there are today, especially with the current opiate and drug problem that wasn't ravaging the nation back in 2006. Sealed criminal indictments could be for anyone, for any crime. So that doesn't really mean anything.

I don't think the evidence I was looking for exists. Everyone constantly talks like there's obvious evidence that Trump is draining the swmap through these 10,000 indictments, but it isn't there. Reading further, I see now that this is just a right wing hope and dream, and as such, I won't clog up your thread asking for evidence that doesn't exist.

Forget that it's Trump specifically doing this. It is the president of the United States, telling people what news is real and not. It is a government officially telling you what news to believe or not believe. It doesn't matter if they're saying not to watch it or not. They are still telling you what to believe. Yes I believe the government has as much away as main stream media in influencing peoples decisions. The problem isn't that someone is calling out what's real or not. The problem is it's a government doing it. Other governments have already started using 'fake news' as an excuse to censor media. In this case they won't have to, everything not state sanctioned will be labelled as fake and people won't pay attention.

Sure it may start with obviously fake things or things you personally agree is fake. How long before 'fake news' is used as a cover to censor whatever the government doesn't want you to hear.

Whatever happened to people being able to read multiple sources and discern facts for themselves?

Well it beats doing nothing at all and let this vicious cycle continue unchecked. Sorry to break it to you but you're part of the problem. I could do it myself but nah i let others handle it is not an attitude we should aspire to and portray at all. Where has the spirit of ATS members gone that they refuse to do the legwork themselves? I read the link you posted, and got to page 17 of your thread and there is no evidence whatsoever. Just people hoping that this has something to do with some super secret Trump plan.
