So we have all heard about Trump and the Fake News Awards at this point I believe.

Refresher:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

"I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o'clock," Trump tweeted. "Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!"

That was his original tweet.

He then changed the date to January 17th because interest was really high it was said. Specifically he said:

"The interest in, and importance of, these awards is far greater than anyone could have anticipated!"

Now I get the interest portion, but he stated the importance of as well. This has me thinking the original tweet was to let people know. But the plan was never to do this on that Monday and was always planned for the 17th.

As we all know Trump is no fan of Fake News but to have the WH sponsor a Fake News Awards ceremony is really odd to say the least. Humor isn't something I believe is part of the optics the WH has used in the past.

My thought is this is a way to gain the most viewers for a real announcement based on what many believe will be a poke at Fake News again.

He already has everyone's ear about the Fake News outlets and has called them on it every time. Awards for it just seems like a cover story to me in order to get people anxious and anticipating it...getting them to tune in.

He is also scheduled to do it on a Wednesday...this suggests a level of real importance.

And even politico is wondering:

It is unclear what the White House actually has planned for Jan. 17.

I believe we are in for an announcement that will be tied to all current happenings with the investigations going on into all things from past administrations. Maybe even hear something about the 10k indictments?

Thoughts?

Hope porn is even better than doom porn. Who woulda thunk? I'm being serious here. I'm hoping!

I honestly don't know what to expect.

Beyond the hype?

Who knows what DT will really do.

It be funny if there would be a press conference in the White House briefing room and Trump handed them out personally.

That would be hilarious.

My take is that CNN takes First place with NBC as second, and may I add very well deserved for lying to the American Public. Will never forget that SOB from CNN that said "American voters are stupid as sh*t"

Attempted brainwashing, Trump is farrrrrr....from being the arbiter of, 'real news' so anything he has to say about fake news is far less a poke, more of a joke.

Seriously guys, just because the media have lied since they were created, does not mean Trump is therefore truthful.

They are all liars. Trump is a gigantic liar too.

Ummm...C'mon little blue dude...you need to get with the program...

Trump tweets are...all...about humor...
This past almost two years has been hilarious...It's been one long reality show episode...
But the joke...and...punchline has been the left of the spectrum...

Take a step back and laugh...it's the best medicine for whatever it is that ails you...

Nice theory Vasa, I hadn't thought of it like that.

I do know one thing, it's sure to be entertaining either way.

Uhhhh. Isn't a government telling you what news you're supposed believe called propaganda? How is news officially sanctioned and promoted by the US government any different than RT or other state media?

The "importance" to Trump here is just him being able to belittle the media in public. I doubt it goes much deeper than that.

Media says unfavorable things, attack the media. That's about as deep as Trump goes. Everyone looking for something else here is going to be sorely disappointed.

The whole 10,000 indictments BS is just internet hucksters creating a story out of the amount of regular secret indictments that exist throughout the country at any given moment. In 2013, there were over 40,000 grand jury proceedings:

The United States Attorneys’ offices handled a total of 41,324 criminal matters during Fiscal Year 2013, in which grand jury proceedings were conducted,

If you believe there is some super secret swamp draining thing going on you're being taken for a ride. Swamp thing is happy sitting right where he is, in the Oval office.

Partially my reasoning for my theory.

But either way they aren't telling anyone who to believe...they are pointing out false news accounts. I'd say that's the duty of the news organizations but they obviously don't do that.

i wish we'd work on healthcare awards, and dwindling trade partnerships and china's cobra clutch on our bonds and subsidies.

but thats just me.

if Obama had a nickel for every fake stories on him and his family, i dont think he'd need to charge half a million for a 20 minutes speech of absolute drivel.

How heartbreaking. I bet he thinks he found one thing people really like. But no matter how well he does, they'll destroy him fo this afterwards.
At some point it just gets so sad.

Actually I thoroughly researched and posted about the indictments when the first popped up.

Feel free to find the thread and read. You are not comparing the same things with what you posted and your link.

Please, show me evidence. I haven't seen anything verifiable in any thread or "news" story about it. Only anonymous sources.

Thanks.

I made a thread on it and even linked to the US Govt doc citing the number of sealed cases in a particular year and how unusual it was for even the first 12 to be in DC alone.

It will come up in a search I'm sure. I don't have time to rehash it all again.

I don't know from all but will grant "mostly."

I think the original tweet was a joke/attempt at humor and a way to poke at his political/media enemies.

I think it got a lot of traction and he decided to go ahead and actually do it.

I don't believe there was much thought behind it in the first place, however.
